The gearing in that tranny would be worse to make up for that 6th gear IMO. I dont know about strength. IF it were stronger, maybe a swap plus 2500 more RPM would be the ticket!

Hell i can settle with that if itll hold up. Guess we jus need to wait for some of these tC2 peeps to start building there cars to find out. Dont know if i can wait that long though lol.

I know I cant haha. I plan on putting mine on the dyno pretty quickly after I get it put back together to see what its making. I know there are others that have had stock trans survive over 500whp so Im thinking maybe this was just bad luck. Orrrr I wonder if my busted cv axle making the car shake like hell when getting on it in 3rd contributed to it. That has since been fixed btw

$3800 for a gearset is VERY reasonable.

We are extremely lucky that our transmissions hold just around 500 tq stock.

Really, cause RSX gear sets are like $5k + $3500 is cheap. Compare that to Descendant asking $4500ish for their tC2 speed conversion that's a stock transmission that's not any stronger than a tC1.

In perspective, the PTuning gear setup is the best solution out there right now.

So you think a Built transmission that's re-geared to be able to use 1st gear, and a final drive with an estimated 180+mph (with an rpm of 7800-8000) for $3500 is to expensive, yet you are willing to buy a stock tC2 6spd conversion for $4500?

ughhh

those are just OE spec rebuilds for those lower prices

Call PPG, Mfactory, G-Force, Albins

call and see how much an aftermarket custom gearset made to handle high torque is. post your results.

The DSM platform has been around for a very long time. It's not an apples to oranges comparison as there are tons of DSM platforms being raced.

$3500 is not expensive imo...for a Dog Box custom geared transmission. It's cheaper than expected. Once it hits production you can expect to pay $5k.

$5,699

so you should mass produce one for $2800. Let me know how it works out.

mmmpshh arent you running like 8psi and ____ing oil already? I hardly think a gearset is on your shopping list.

and at least that was with labor.... im not paying $3500 for a gear set + shipping and then gotta do it myself or pay someone else to do it

"Rather than just sell you the gear set and send you on your way, Club RSX only offers the gears installed. We do this to make sure that you have a trouble free experience with them. We measure all the clearances, make sure all your synchro's are in good condition and send it back to you in full working order."

Well then brake the stock one and just keep replacing them, or rebuilding them (eventually you will exceed the cost of a Dog Box). Or spend $4500 for a stock 6spd tC2 and brake that.

Just sayin...

I think that's $3500 installed, don't quote me on that. But I don't think it was just parts.

it would be cheaper to buy the final drive from a camry brand new from toyota and put it in your tc transmission than find a 6spd and put it in. with about the same results.
