unfortunately, i think the turbo seals blew.... we took it out, hit 6 lbs of boost or so, and a bunch of white smoke came out of the exhaust... we also smelled something burning... we took a look and saw smoke coming out of the turbo itself... what im wondering is, im using a forge boost controller but when i turned it all the way down, it spiked to 16 lbs... how many turns is 1 psi on that boost controller?

sounds like you went the wrong way on the boost controller or you have a pinched (loose) vac line going to the wastegate.

do you have any pics or vid to show us? like to get a better idea of whats going on here.

On the oil return line, it kinda looks as if the fitting is sitting at a lightly lower angle compared to the fitting on the pan. I dont have a turbo, and I think you already checked, but make sure that the line does not have any low spots on the return.

good eye...i didnt see it..lol

seals and bearings could be damaged...you can check by grabbing the shaft and moving it, if it clicks, makes a noise, or if you try and turn it while pulling up on the shaft and you hear the wheels scratching then you have too much shaft play. BTW i cant make this sound less dirty, its just the way it is.

yeah thats just another turbo we used to check to see if my own turbo was smoking... but both of them were smoking and smelled like oil/burning smell.....

tc4eva: wouldnt it still push the oil down even if theres a low spot? cause isnt there oil pressure pushing it back to the oil pan?

it is not suppose to work that way. it needs to have no restrictions what so ever. on some turbo kits for say a 350z uses a scavenging pump cause the turbo sits lower than the oil pan. The seals on a turbo just cant take it.
