Default white smoke coming out!!!

so after we put the new turbo in there and let it run for a little bit, when we rev there is a big puff of white smoke that smells like oil. we took the turbo apart and looked at it and sure enough there was a lot of oil in it... my question is, is it my oil feed/return line? im using -6 and -3 for oil lines... does anybody know the size of the lines that other kits are using?

sounds like too much oil pressure or a clogged/kinked drain tube.

is this a custom line? yeah we're using -6 and -3.... too small huh...

Turbo doesnt matter.. If its journal bearings. use no resitrictor..

Take a pic of the return line for me!

dang =( the earliest i can take a picture is on Monday... car is at the shop.. but i think u hit the jackpot there, we were using -6 return lines and -3 feed

YUP, I switched my ptuning kit to a 3/4 line when i was having a smoke issue.. turns out i had the line kinked.. but i changed anyways!

why put a -8? Use the -10.. or goto lowes and get a 3/4 hose and use it! do it right before u blow the seals out of the turbo.

seals should be ok as long as you get this issue taken care of asap. the seals are pretty much a small version of a piston ring. thats not saying they cant be damaged.

YUP.. its not really a "seal" as everyone knows it to be! But with to high of oil pressure build up it has to go somewere! I reallly need pics!

lol i'll take some pics monday... i have pics of everything put back on... where it would look nice but no pics of the actual set up yet... haha my VRD fogs and bumper fits perfectly with no modifications!!

mine did it when my rings were toast and there was too much pressure in the crankcase/oilpan, similar to running a smaller line as it restricted oil return.

It's either the line is kinked, too much crankcase pressure, or the valve cover is not vented correctly. I've experienced all three

crankcase pressure? valve cover? lol sorry im a newb here with turbo... how would we tell and be able to adjust those?

i agree, must be oil drain restriction.. -10 is always recommended as it allows better by gravity, remember oil return is not pressurized at least you dont want it to.. but if it doesnt resolve you might have other problems too

the valve cover has two ports, one on the driver side and one on the back going to a PCV valve to the intake. make sure those arent kinked in any way, then check the driver side port to make usre its not blow out air/oil/water/small animals when at idle.
