so...i was clocking my turbo a while ago..two days ago actually, and i didn't tighten them down.

.....i think it started to spew oil everywhere cuz it started smoking under the hood.

anywyas, i cleaned it up. tightened all bolts and double checked EVERYTHING.

anyways....it's been making white smoke come out of my exhaust.

BLAH. does that mean my turbo seals are broken? does it mean that i had oil leak into the turbo and all i have to do is wait for it to come out? whats it mean? help meee

im gonna say it could be one of two things:

a. its nothing and residuel oil that wasnt supposed to be where it was just needs time to get out. or

b. your turbine was spooling with insuficent oil and... well i dont want to say it bro..

someone with more knowledge than me like todd, paul, joe, enrique, guru, travis, phil, pito... man i dont know ____ cause i could keep on naming people so imma stop there..

haha, i so hope its the first one.

i'm pretty sure i had enough oil in the turbine...=/

nothing else is affected, performance wise...spools up just like before, boosts as good as it did. afr's are kind of funny though.

sometimes runs a little lean and shuts the car off.

sounds like it may be the first one and it will take some time to correct the oil being in areas it isnt supposed to be, i hope it is.

Hmmm.... well i know if your compressor side is loose sometimes the turbine will rub or not spin freely. Although im sure you would have heard a weird noise while spooling or a whine. Worse case is like you said seals on the turbo went because of what I mentioned.

thats what im really really hoping for.

the seals are easy to replace i think.

i'm not too clear on how to do it but it shouldn't be too hard

i can't tell, if i'm under boost im not neccessarily able to see white smoke as im moving away from it....but at idle it comes out if i idle for a couple minutes

what does each symptom mean? if it's all the time as opposed to under boost only

hopefully its just nothing, just residual oil in your exhaust or something.. but isnt oil supposed to be blue/black? and white is fuel.. but when you said goes lean and shuts down the car that concerns me. no other problem before you clocked the turbo?

nope, no problem before i clocked the turbo....the lean thing is a bit weird...it doens't happen all the time..randomly actually. i think it's a result of my tune so im not worried about it. the car shutting off actually only happens when i shift and let off BOV, again a result of tune...pulling too much fuel at low loads haha


white smoke is what im worried about

yeah blown headgasket it white.. but you dont want that more than broken turbo seals.. question is, how bad is it not tightening the turbo after clocking?

i did for like a day cuz i didn't know...but i tightened them with the quickness. pulled over half way into that day that i ran with it untightened and tightened it with my hands...burned the crap out of it but whatever.

Well oil is blue. White is water.

If it were a blown head gasket you would notice smoke under boost.
