...uhm...have you noticed that just about all cars on the road about this time of year durring the cold weather are spewing out white smoke? this is called "exhaust"

the more throttle you give, the more your car will accelerate, more air will get sucked into the engine, more fuel will be added and more smoke will be generated.

pay attention, durring cold weather, all cars will pump out some white smoke. mine does.

you don't have to worry until your smoke turns black, which means your running rich, or blue, which means your burning oil.

yes, i have both cats...

Also, i know about the normal white smoke, at idle, and cold acceleration...im talking about 65 deg. weather, car has been driven for 45 min. before full throttle. and it doesnt happen at any other time other then above 5 psi of boost. i figure that its no big deal cuz nothin feels funny, i was just wondering if everything was ok.

i think everything is fine, outside temps are most likely the reason for the smoke. like he said above the smokes not black or blue. pay attention to the color, other than that id say its normal.

White smoke is a sign that water/anti-freeze is getting in the combustion chamber. The boost might be opening a path in the head gasket allowing anti-freeze in.

Time to do a compression check. It sounds like it could be a head gasket...especially being FI. Pull your plugs and see if one is different than the others.

Also, blue smoke is oil, black smoke is carbon (running severly rich) and white (on turbos especially) is usually water.

but, if my head gasket was leaking, wouldnt my oil be milky?? Its not, its clean, like it should be.

ill try to pull the plugs tomorrow and see what they look like. worst case scenario, i take it to the dealer and have them look at it, and fix it if there is somthin wrong.

if i dont get a chance to pull them tomorrow, i'll baby it until i get a chance to.

also, it only has the smoke when i punch it in first gear...when im rolling and punch it, say in second gear, it doesnt do it. i thought i would add that in, maybe that would spark any other ideas.

im just wondering if its sumthin stupid like, the exhaust pipe has some water in it and it rocks back when i floor it (in 1st gear), hits a hot spot in the pipe, evaporates causeing the smoke. what do you think?

Are you positively sure its not grey smoke? Because if it is its ok. My friends tC does it, and mine will do it if I baby for the car for a little while and then romp on it. Its like the soot a diesel truck spews out. Dont worry about it.

No, You would not notice any of that. Only signs are blowing smoke out the exhaust which should have a hint of blue tint to it if it is leaky seals. It would also have a smell to it.

wow.... its your rings man... 100%.... My talon did the same thing. It happens... maybe you got a little too much oil last time you changed it. Or honestly i don't know how many miles you had on it when you boosted but your rings take a lot more abuse on boost so it could just be time.... its ____ty but its a part of boost

^^^You've mentioned this like 3 times now and it is good advice, BUT he did say the smoke was white, not blue/grey (which would indicate oil). Until he pulls a plug or two, and checks compression, we'll never know.

As far as if it is a leaking seal, all you have to do is check the intake side of the SC for oil residue. If it's enough to smoke, it'll show up there.
