Default Will S/C or Turbo pass Smog Test in Cali?

I'm currently in Hawaii but will be back in 2008 in Cali.

Will a Super charge and a Turbo charge Scion tC pass Smog Test?

you would definatly need to have a downpipe with cat and a recirculated dump tube. i still dont know if that will pass but i dont see why not. someone from cali will chime in because i too am in hawaii! haha

only thing that will pass smog is an unmodded TRD SC.

Well... maybe a Civic, and WRX if you catch one off guard.

California will make you remove the turbo when you apply for the smog cert. required for registration.

If the part is NOT carb approved it will NOT pass California smog. By the way carb means "California Air Resources Board" so you can see why if it is not carb approved why it will not pass smog.

Most people don't bring heavily modified tCs to California, also, tCs don't get smogged until 6 years after they were bought. Other than getting a ticket for illegal mods, which most people remove the offending parts and have to go a referee station (different than a smog check), no tC bought in California has gotten a "regular" smog check for registration purposes, so no one really knows until 2010 at the earliest.

your car is supercharged and turbocharged?
the turbo probably wont pass the visual inspection unless you make everything look like it was factory (airbox, heatshield over turbo, black plastic intercooler piping, etc). only a crooked shop will overlook the visual inspection.

the going rate for crooked smog shops is about $400 if you provide a stock tC. add another $100 if the shop has to get their own stock tC. plus they have to trust you because of undercover stings.

if you live in an isolated part of California you can apply for smog exemption if there are no smog centers around.
