Default Yet Another Competition Clutch FAIL

Bought a CC Stage 4 last June, had it professionally installed by Lethal Injection Motorsports in Alpharetta, GA, install was fine.

Clutch held up until recently, maybe 3 months ago I start to hear a rotational noise only when you engage the clutch, once its engaged the sound goes away.

I brought the noise up to Chris (crush) about a week or 2 ago, and he mentions the same thing happened to Carlos, CC Stage 3 Failure so I already prepared for the worse last year when I started hearing about the CC problems, I got an ACT Street disc late last year, just the disc as I assume they use the same pressure plate and last week I bought a stock clutch earlier this week thinking I would make it to June and just have it replaced while I was out of town.

Well today driving back from the mailbox it happened, I was in first, went to put it in second and it wouldn't go. I tried to put it back in first, nothing. Then noticed my clutch pedal was on the floor so it isn't disengaging the clutch so a spring may have popped out and isn't allowing it to disengage.

At least I was in my apartment complex and I just let it cost until it came to a stop in a parking spot.

Thanks a lot CC.

what sucks is i've ever been able to change the damn clutch myself so trying to find a shop in Auburn is proving to be quite a task. Good thing is my AAA membership just renewed so towing isn't an issue.

The clutch is the only thing left from my boosted glory days

I have an ACT disc if you need it, i'm going back to stock clutch.

Better to go ahead and take care of it sooner rather than later, i'm just glad I was at home and not on the road somewhere....car still starts, you just can't move it.

are you sure its the clutch? i had this happen to me a few weeks back. the clutch stayed stuck to the floor. turns out it was just the master cylinder. $20 part, easy to install.

reach down and pull the petal away from the floor, then try to pump it using your hands. if it does not build pressure and keeps getting sucked back to the floor, then the master cylinder is not holding pressure and needs to be replaced.

Well that's not the issue....just checked and pedal is not on the floor. It's in the normal position. I push it in and can start the car and still hear that rotational noise. I push the clutch in and I can hear it but it just isn't engaging.

are you feeling any resistance from the clutch like normal, or does it push right to the floor? it may also be your throw out bearing if you hear something clunking around. to start the car all that needs to happen is the little white plastic button on the floor needs to be pushed down, so that doesnt matter much.

I don't feel any extra resistance out of the normal, i'm not fighting any resistance to get it down and it doesn't just flop down either. I don't hear any clunking around, just the rotational noise that I hear, it's starting the squeal slightly now so I just turned it back off.

No worries, would've been an easier fix...just chalk it up to the clutch or TOB, either way it's sitting on still for the moment.

FWIW....I can cycle through the gears just fine, no resistance with the car off.
