Default Another Competition Clutch Fail

Lets get some of the usual questions out of the way...clutch had less than 10,000 miles on it. Had seen only 4 runs at the track. I even have the vids of the car going down the track posted on youtube so you can see for yourself the launches were easy and not just dumping the clutch. However from some of the pics it looks like the clutch was slipping at some point. Two step launch was never used but no-lift shift was via wot box. On one hand the clutch wasnt exactly babied but i expected better from a stage 3 clutch with a car that is putting out 240-260 tq. Maybe im wrong, ill let you guys figure that out.

here are some pics of the pressure plate and fly wheel, looks like some slipping going on. could be driver habit but with that i would think there would be less shock load to the clutch. perhaps im wrong.

Holy crap clutch batman! How is the exedy stage 2 for street use compared to the stocker? I'm not looking to launch the thing, just a more durable upgrade than the overpriced TRD when my stock one finally starts to slip (fingers crossed).

Just the luck of the draw.

I have a CC Stage 4 that i've had in for roughly 10,000 and haven't had a single issue yet. It has settled in and feels stock. Holds my 260whp quite nicely. I don't beat on it, never been to the track but the tC is my 1st stick and I didn't have it a year before I upgraded the clutch and shortly after went turbo.

mehh dont be...it could be driver error but i highly doubt it...iv got the vids to prove it...however i wonder if using the no-lift shift could in the end just be too hard on the clutch.

btw guys this is a stage 3 clutch not a stage 4....stage 4 is a 6puck clutch plate if im not mistaken....so perhaps the wrong clutch was used...not sure at this point. this is off of Carlanga's car (Carlos). I helped him install it and uninstall it, at first i thought it was the TOB cause he couldnt shift it but found out the spring poped out and was between the pressure plate, so i guess that was keeping him from shifting.

Squishy? No.

It is very stiff at first, until it settles in then it becomes almost stock feeling.
When it was first installed I couldn't push that sucker down for nothing, I felt like I would have a very large left calf muscle. I stalled pulled out the driveway multiple times when I first installed it.

The engagement point is adjustable depending on where you want it. Optimally you want it in the middle so you're not burning the clutch but it still engages quickly.

You're right Chris, stage 4 is 6 puck but if i'm not mistaken it also comes in a 4 puck version as well. Stage 3 should have been fine with the amount of power he was putting to the ground however CC Stage 3's have been known for issues which is why, I believe, PTUNING no longer carries CC Stage 3's and highly recommends CC Stage 4's.

I don't have any experience with ACT in a tC but a buddy of mine had an ACT in his Nissan and lived by that thing. He says it was the best clutch he has ever had experience with.

if thats the case then its pretty effing funny how the stage 3 is so much more money than the stage 4 but still cant beat a stock clutch performance wise...lol
