Yeah as far as staying in vacuum, u can take the car to redline(not that u need to) without even going into boost, just ease into the throttle ( boost gauge will help in looking at that), and u can see when u are in vacuum. When u want to pass someone, just downshift and ease into the throttle, the car moves very well normal driving when not in boost, or u can just floor it, let that open wasegate be heard and blow past them! Thats always fun too!

no, the MAF sensors are different, unless you cut that out and weld the 06 MAF sensors on it

Sorry Nebster, I'm a little confused man, hopefully you or someone can help explain this. I have an automatic, so I only have 4 gears But your saying not to go into WOT while in a vacuum in 5th why? I'm not understanding how that will be any different from doing it in another gear. For me I'll be in 4th, but can you dumb this down a little for me? I thought if you go WOT on a turboed engine it's going to go into boost...why would it stay in vacuum in 5th gear?

ok for some reason people don't get this lol.

just because you're at 3000 rpm doesn't mean you're in boost, at 3000 rpm you're right you'll be in boost at wot.
in any gear you can create vaccum and boost. boost is the compression of the air at a certain pressure. because the exhaust gases come out of the engine and rotate the turbine on the turbo the speed of the turbo (how much boost you'll create) is proportional to how fast those exhaust gases are coming out which is proportional to how hard you are pressing the gas.

You will find a median at around 25% of the way depressed where you will create 0 boost and 0 vaccum. this would be like driving a n/a car.

If this is still confusing people i'll make a video tomorrow

EDIT: i just re-read your post about why not to go into WOT in 5th.

ok so its completely different for an automatic because whenever you floor it the transmission will automatically go to a lower gear. You know when you floor it in your high gear and it seems like the car doesn't react? Thats bad for the engine because it creates more stress then is good for a car.

All i'm saying is if your on the interstate and you're trying to pass a semi and you have a ways to go and need to floor it stick it down into 4th gear because its safer. for the automatic transmission its not that big of a deal because the tranny does all the gear selection for you

Awesome, thanks man, I kinda get it now. Sounded like you were getting irritated in the beginning which is understandable. But yes I read the post and I get the whole you can be in boost and not be in boost at the same RPMs I just didn't understand why you wouldn't want a vacuum in 5th. So for you guys your say you need to drop to 4th, create boost and then go to 5th right? Because that's how my tranny would handle it. Well actually my tranny would stay in third til about 110ish lol, but that's what you are saying right?

no no no no

vaccum is ok thats how you get good gas milliage.

you just don't wanna go WOT when you wouldn't be in boost. for ex. in WOT you may not hit boost if you're in too high of a gear. THATS when you get in trouble

short version

Bad = in 5th gear and cruzin at 30mph on the street and trying to floor it without down shifting.

Ok to do = in 5th at 85-100mph, and flooring it. At those speeds, exhaust gases would already be flowing fast enough. Sometimes I will slowly start depressing the pedal and let the boost rise to 0, and then go wot from there, in the event I dont care to down shift.

boost really has nothing to do with rpm in a sense. it all about engine load. keep the engine load down and you stay in VAC, romp the gas and you hit boost. it's that simple
