sealed for sure on the W6.. off to the side and glassed... it will sound awsome and will still give you the most amount of space in the back...

whoever said that the W7 is a great SQ sub... your retarded... sorry.. SPL yes.. SQ no.. if your looking for a SQ sub.. find the Focal 11" sub.. by far the best out there...

the W7 was built to just be flat out rediculous.. i have even had my JL rep tell me... W6 for clean sound... W7 for mean bass...

just depends on what your looking for.. but if you were my customer.. you would be having an enclosure built on the drivers side for your 12" W6 and another on your pass side for you 500.1
NOT RETARTED JUST BETTER EDUCATED ON JL ALMOST 20 YEARS OF USE!!!!
THE w7 line was not created to be a SPL sub if it was one might find them in SPL cars
The w6 is a good woofer, but a 500/ is too much power period. And yes the focal is the best the w7 is also good I have used both, the w7 is the closest to it but for damn near half the price... Oh yeah I have smoked more than one 12w7 doing SPL just bursts with 3000w it sucked For hard core SPL try Atomic, DD,Re , Treo Crossfire and Pioneer Spl5000 AND I do now of what I speak I use both Audiocontrol and Term Pro systems.

^^ i agree.... the W7 is an excellent sounding sub that can get damn loud while still sounding good (enclosure has a lot to to with it).... I'd never use JL for a strict SPL car or a strict SQ car.... if you want close to the best of both worlds, that's where JL comes in....

500 watts isn't too much power for a w6...as you can see here

sure, it's on the heavy end, but still not to the point of melting VC's or anything.... besides, with correct setup of the amps, 500 watts on the 12w6 will be perfect...

oh my bad.... 500 watts still isn't too much though, even for the 10... especially mechanical handling (non-sine waves a.k.a. music)

so pretty much identical except for the cubic feet range. Should i go with the 10 since it need a little less space than the 12? or will the 12 produce more bass?

12w6v2 and 500/1 great combo..you can run 2 w6's off this amp and not have problems.
But you can not run a w7 with this amp and be efficient it is underpowered.
stick with the w6 and 500/1

Ok here is the box size for a 10w7 ported sealed is 1.25 ported is 1.5
Yes the power rating for a w6 show it will take a 500/1 but depending on the customer or end user I would not recommend it unless u know that end user will not change the adjustments on the amp or turn on loud on there deck any way you use the system a 500/1 with a 300/2 will look great plus with the new looks they showed at CES the chrome looks realy good. Best of luck with your system cant wait to see a finished pic.

^^^ I've never had good results using JL's enclosure design either.... always tuned too high (although I don't know if that's this case)....

So what's your preference? Insane bass, or a good clean sound? Either way, I'd do a sealed box. You'll lose a bit of bump, but a vented box creates a little mud. And with a w6v2 or a w7, you got plenty of bump to spare. If you get anything other than a sealed box for a w6v2 or a w7, you might as well save your money and get mtx.

for SQL, a w6 ported would be just fine.... if you were trying to achieve more flat response or a more SQ-only focused system, a sealed would be the way to go.... personally, I love the sound produced from most ~30Hz tuned ported enclosures....
