Default 05 Steering Wheel Switched with 06 or 07?

I've been thinking of switching the wheel out of my 05 with an 06 or 07. Can this be done? I don't see a reason why not but just checking before I start looking for it. Also, is it just the center of the wheel or the whole wheel?

Any pics of the 07 wheel out there? I here it is different.

Pretty sure it can be done, but I believe you also will have to change your headunit out to one compatable with the steering wheel controls.

The O6/07 wheel is just like the 05, only it has a volume and track control on one side of the wheel, and new silver trim panels to match the dash on both.

I'm gonna wire the controls to work with my carputer when installed so not worried about the head unit. I thought someone said the controls on the 07 looked a little different or had something different from the 06.

Ah. I'm not sure about that. I have an '05 with no controls, but a friend of mine has the '06. I have no idea what the '07 wheel looks like.

Sounds cool tho. It's going to be expensive if you get the wheel from the dealer, of course, but I've considered doing the same thing if I can find a wheel from another source.

I rented a Camry a while back, and was a little jealous of the steering wheel volume and track controls. They're nice.

*edit*.... if it's not present.... then put it in!

You mean the wiring for the audio controls aren't there or for the horn and airbag? As far as I can tell that's the only wires cuz you'd just have to replace that airbag (horn area) part. If it's the control wires it's no big deal cuz I was gonna rig something up to control stuff on my carputer.

The 06 Steering wheel controls work with the 05 headunits. When I picked up my 06 tC there was a 05 6disc changer HU installed. I was surprised but didn't care. It was free and the steering wheel controls still worked .

So you got it to work. I knew it would work. I still haven't made progress with trying this. Too many other projects going on since the summer. The big project (turbo) will be done this coming week.
