06 tc with factory HU/6" sub questions...
I know I could just swap out the HU but I really enjoy the ipod connectivity and steering wheel controls...
My car has the 6" sparetire subwoofer and tomorrow I want to start installing my upgraded system. Now I know I need a LOC (Lineout converter) but I was wondering if it were possible to tap into the harness for the factory sub instead of having to remove the factory hu/tap into the rear speaker wires.
Yes I've searched, but I can't pinpoint an answer.
anything would help...

not sure what your asking. but the factory hu amp wont power anything bigger then that dinky sub.
what are you installing system wise?
if you get a aftermarket hu, there are some that you can still control with your steering wheel controls.
google is your bestfriend.........
He's not suggesting powering an aftermarket system off of the factory sub amp, just using the signal.
If you have a 06 tC, you shouldn't have a factory sub in the first place. Unless I'm forgetting something the only option available from the dealer was the bazooka sub that sits on the side of the hatch. Now if you did have the sub that came stock in the 08+ models, there should be a harness you can tap into. I can't say for sure if the signal will be good enough for the LOC, because I think the amplifier is built into the sub enclosure.
In either case I would suggest looking into the Pioneer t1809, which is the premium radio from the 08+ models. You can keep your iPod connectivity (I actually think it's better on the premium unit) and steering wheel controls, and also get an rca sub output on the back of the unit for a nice clean signal to your system. Then you can also control the sub level from the headunit.

now I just have to figure which of my subs I want to use and how I want to go about building a system for the trunk. for right now I'm just using my rockford punch power 500.2 and a jl 12w3 d4 in a JL wedge...not really happy just "throwing" that in there. but until I find out what perephials I want and what sound I'm looking for that'll have to do.
