Default 07' came with ipod plug and adapter but AUX wont switch on!!

I finally got a ipod after buying my 07 scion. The car came with the aux and the ipod cable and terminal in the center console.
I plugged in the black gable with the male grey plastic end into the ipod plug in the center console and then the other side into my nano. The nano says playing but my radio will not switch to aux it will on stay on either FM or CD and even when I hit aux it doesnt show up....????? Its like the AUX button isnt working. ARGH! What am I missing here? I am sure its simple but I need to know so I can finally jam out with more than 14 tracks at a time... lol..

I thought the same thing on mine. Plug the iPod into the adapter for a few minutes. I think it has to initialize something. Mine started working after a few minutes.

Okay.. Ill try I am was going to rip the old girl open and see if the its correctly plugged into the radio. and check the wiring. Regardless..... though
Even if I didnt have my ipod plugged in it should just go to AUX if nothing there right...? I mean like on a tv even if here is nothing coming in it still switches to that channel but blank.. it wont even go to AUX ever.....
I will let you know.. thanks..

did you hit the aux button twice? I know I have to do that to get the ipod working.

if nothing is plugged into the aux or ipod port you wont be able to turn it on. nothing will happen untill something is plugged in.
if you did plug in the ipod and still nothing comes up then I would check the wiring. make sure its pluged in behind the radio and behind the ipod port.
Just pull up the cup holders and you can see it.

Mine works fine. I don't have to hit the aux button twice. I can hear the music as I hit the play button on my iPod.

Weird....
I pretty much took off all of the panels and this is what I got. The radio has all plugs in it except for on small one on the upper left (if you were looking at it) I am asuming thats the XM jack? Now I plugged a mini to mini and bam my aux now works with line in....
But I traced the wires for the plug they get spliced in right around the shifter and all travel up the left side of the center console... I could not find anything missing our out of sorts.
I updated my nano and then left it in... But.. everynow and then it would say bye bye ipod?
And ideas on what this might be? Faulty connector wire from ipod to console?
Thanks for the help!

Check the booklet for the stereo. On my 3800mp you gotta go into the initial setup mode to open up the auxilary capability. Sucks cuz I have to do that any time the battery is disconnected.

O_O take it to a dealer that should be a quick answer instead of getting sweaty and dirty taking apart the car
