Save the $200 or so dollars on gas. You can just buy a male to male jack and control the music from the ipod.

Default I love the upgrade

I have the ipod upgrade and I love it. People say you can just buy the plug in and change everything from your IPOD, but why would you do that if you can control it from your radio or the stereo controls. Also the stereo upgrade from the stock radio that is required to operate it from your stereo is so much better. I am very happy with the upgrade, especially since they gave me the IPOD cup holder to sit my IPOD in rather than have it lay around and move around everywhere. If you want I will show you a pic of what I am talking about, just e-mail me.

whiteout dont you put it in the center console i couldnt see how you could do that with the cable being so short and u cant control it from the ipod anyway. Its an excellent upgrade the only downside is you have to keep twisting and twisting and twisting the **** to get to where your trying to go. plus after you select a song and try to go back you have to start from the beginning so for example if you just put on a system of a down song and want to go to tool or sumthing next you have to start from the begining and go all the way down and with alot of music it becomes a real pain. but otherwise its a good product

Pros: works great, no need to get a new unit and try to run the wires yourself.
Cons: if you upgrade your unit to another with ipod capability, chances are that you can not use the same wiring again rendering it useless. (problem I am running into now)

Another Con: the iPod upgrade works for only mini, nano, and video. What if Apple comes out with another generation of ipods.

I also say just use the included AUX port. I used a dock connector to 1/8" jack converter to get a cleaner signal than the headphone jack and it also sets the volume level so that the volume control on my iPod was disabled (so that I do not have to worry about someone coming into my car, wanting to turn the music louder, using the iPod volume control and distorting the sound and/or blowing something up). If you don't plan on upgrading your sound system by all means get it, but if you do (think in the long run at least), just get the stock deck, use the AUX port, and save the $260 upgrade for something else. And when a new ipod comes out, the aux port will still work. Or if all else fails, you can use the $260 you saved and buy an aftermarket deck, an ipod adapter, and if you want an AUX in-port.

and as for me. I went with the stock deck from the factory, then I upgraded to an aftermarket deck. Coolest feature? NO MORE ORANGE! (blame it on my obsessive compulsive disorder to have matching interior lights..lol) unless orange is your motif of course. =]

Got my 5-speed '06 tC last Wednesday and today they are installing the stereo with iPod capablity and Sirius....when I rolled off the lot my '06 had an '07 6-CD changer installed and I was unable to just plug my iPod in and play...the stereo didn't have an Aux option...is that with all the '07s?

So far I have been to the dealer 3 times in a week and am not a happy camper...hopefully when they call to say all my accessories are on and the stereo is finally the way I ordered it I'll be happy.

i recently upgraded my radio so i'm no longer using the stocker but i liked it. it takes a little time to scroll through artists if you have a lot but it's still the best factory ipod integration i've seen. and definately faster than most aftermarket systems. i would recommend it if you have the cash for it.

yeah just the deck and the accesories (i.e. Aux in port/ ipod adapter). the subs and amps are not included. though it would be sweet if it was . . lol

I have the iPod adapter and i love it. I never have to change cd's. I just make playlists off my iPod. the interface is so easy to use and my passengers love it. It is a little expensive but its so clean and such good quality

dont get it, It's almost as expensive, actually more expensive than the new Nanos. It's like buying an IPod to listen to your IPod. Go to Radioshack or something, get a cable to connect it to your IPod in the aux. Worrying about the battery? Buy a charger too, charge when you need it.

So....

Cable: $6
Charger" $20
Total: $26 (MATH!)

Scion IPod Upgrade: $260

So.... 26 or 260? :X

Oh btw, I got an IPod Cup Holder thing from my dealership too, it was free with the car >_>

I love my iPod deck. The iPod stays hidden, and charged. I can control the iPod from the steering wheel and keep my eyes on the road. To me, it's a safety feature. I just keep it on random and fast foward the songs I don't feel like listening to at the moment. Sure, it's a PITA to try and search for a specific song, but you shouldn't be doing that while driving anyways!

That goes for people who use the AUX input too! Quit playing with your iPod and keep your eyes on the @*#$%&* road!

I"ll also lay down some applause on the OEM iPod upgrade. Yeah, it's true it's a pain to scroll down to a specific artist, but like many have said you should NOT be doing that while driving. I chose to do it both for safety and for the fact it keeps the iPod hidden and charged. Yeah, an aftermarket system can do the trick, but the Scion one works extremely well. For those of you listening while stopped in a parking lot per say, if you want an easier/faster way to get to a specific artist (especially if you have thousands of songs), just pull the iPod out, scroll to the artist on the iPod and select the song and pause immediately. Plug the iPod back in and push aux and bam....there's the song. I just have several playlists that I use for play while driving. Looks great and sounds great!
