Default 07 TC Door LED Problem

I have a 2007 Scion TC that has been running pretty well for 2 years and had no problems. However, during the last 2 weeks, I notice the the door LED indicator keeps turning on every time i hit a bump or whenever the road is rough. It turns on for about 1 second and then turns off. It happens quite often now everytime the car shakes a lot or i go over a bump. Could there be something wrong with the wirings? Or could it be loose? How can i fix this problem?

I recently had the back bumper fixed so cold there be anything wrong with the trunk part since it's a door also?

well i checked all of the doors and the trunk as well and made aure theyre closed tightly. the indicator didnt come on when its in the garage or when its driven on a normal smooth road. it just turns on and off when the road is rogh and bumpy or when i go over a railroad track. i think the wirings could be loose? i have no idea

sounds like the wiring/sensor for the hatch latch/lock is causing it to send the signal that it's open.

did anyone re-adjust the strike plate? that's on the bumper area, looks like a big loop.

is the strike plate the thing that the hatch clamps onto when it closes? If so it looks fine and the hatch stays closed. i tried moving it and it seemed to stay on tightly.

yes that is the loop, hook that the hatch clamps onto. Did the body shop ever mess with that?

the door switch is in the hatch itself and takes the signal off the door lock assembly.. (the thing on the hatch that does the clamping/latching)

it's probably not latching on tight enough... because i can only assume you got your back bumper fixed because you were rear ended?

thus the striker (the hooking part.. trying to explain it as best as i can to ya here)... and the door lock assembly are probably out of alignment from each other..

unless you just don't close the rear hatch tight enough..

yeah i got rear ended. however after i got rear ended, i drove home which was over 100 miles and took it to work the next 2 days. everything was fine until the body shop replaced the rear bumper. i slowly lowered the hatch to make sure it locks onto the clamo tightly which seemed like it does. I also tried moving it as well and it didnt budge.

I know you are saying the hatch doesn't move, but you need to be able to look at the light when you are messing with the hatch to see if it comes on. The light doesn't always mean that it isn't shut, it could just mean for some reason that the sensor is not working properly.

ok i know where the problem is coming from now but i dont know how to fix it. It's coming from the gauges area. I think it's around the first gauge where the "GAS REMAINING" is located. Everytime i hit the top of the gauge, the door LED and lights in the car would turn on even when the car is parked and i also tried turning the engine off too and it still comes on everytime i hit the top of the gauge. So it can't be any of the locks, hatch, or doors. Now the problem is how do i fix it?

yeah that's odd. I'd take a look at your guage cluster wiring. Make sure everythings tight back there.

That is very strange. Did you have any work done in the front of the car? Fog lights? Head Unit? Foot well light? Anything installed by you or a professional?

I would think under normal conditions (Even considering your accident) that your gauge cluster and wiring in there should be fine.
