Default 10" subwoof question

Alright this is a question i need answered. I have the 100watt 10" bazooka sub woofer so i was wondering if i put in a new 10" 600watt sub woofer in to replace it will it be able to be powered by the car? Because i wont be able to buy a amp for about 3-4 months after i purchase a sub. If the scion can hand it for a couple months or even if it can handle it a lot.

if you've got the bazooka sub that you can order with the car, it has a built-in amp. That means you'd need to get a new amp to power a new subwoofer. It's possible to run your subwoofer from the factory head unit, but it won't carry enough power to sound good.

no. no its not. [possible to run an aftermarket sub off the factory head unit with no amp]

i don't know much about the POS factory sub, but it sounds like you will need a new amp and box too. probably also a amp wiring kit, because i'm not sure how the factory sub system is wired, but i not sure if you'd be able to tap into it (power, remote, rca) or not.

you can find them [audio equipment] cheap. check craigslist.com in your area, etc...

If he's got the line, power, and ground wired to the rear for his existing amp/sub, he can hook those up to a new amp. It IS possible to run a sub off the headunit speaker-level out, but with the low wattage running back there, the sub won't do much.

Obviously the best way to go would be to get a new amp/box for his sub, but is it POSSIBLE to run an aftermarket sub off the factory head unit without an external amp? yes.

you guys are nuts. Don't bother running a subwoofer without an amp, it won't do what it's intended to. His initial question was if he could replace the sub in the bazooka tube. .....I doubt it. The sub is probably not simply screwed into the enclosure, and you'd probably need to modify it so the new sub will attach. I've gotta assume too that the sub in the tube is most likely the best component for the included amp.

You can certainly do that. I'm not trying to be a know-it-all, but I was aware of using the sub wiring to run a seperate amp. I guess I was thinking he was trying to just replace the sub, and have the replacement sub powered off of the existing Bazooka amplifier. I think I'm gonna check the Bazooka out more thoroughly before I post something that has probably already been attempted.

I think he has the sub already, and wants to make something work out of the stuff he already has.

Not too sure on the install nor the wires?

ill answer a different non-posed question. will your sub and amp choice sound good?

NO.

dude...take our advice. the stuff you're buying is JUNK. sony amps are JUNK. pioneer subs are JUNK.

here's my recommendation for you.

Elemental Designs 11Kv.2 Sub

powered by

Elemental Designs Nine.2 Amp

what a coincidence...same thing yanki suggested.

rob pm me i can help you with your stuff....but we're giving you good suggestions. take it kindly and listen to what we have to say. we've owned the products ourselves and we know what this stuff is like. if you buy the other stuff you're gonna regret it later on. that sony and pioneer stuff just sucks.
