12volt plug issues
So both of my 12 volt plugs keep blowing fuses. The one in the center console was first, followed a day after by the normal cig lighter. I tried replacing the fuses but both went out with a nice sizzle sound as soon as I tried to plug devices into either. The devices I am plugging in are my satellite radio and my phone charger. Both work fine in other vehicles. Are there any issues you guys may know of with the accessory sockets?
have you tried a different accessory all together? as far as the cell charger, plug it in without the cell plugged in. does it blow the fuse or is it only when you plug in the cell?
have you taken apart the center console panel? take a look at those wires to make sure that they are not rubbing or crimped and maybe causing a short.

yeh I tried my radar detector and stuff two. It is just weird because I was under the impression that the plugs were on different circuits. The cell charger was always in the cig and the radio always in the aux. I guess I will have to go looking for the short.
yea there are plugs under the console. its really easy to take apart. get a multimeter and test out the wires. if its on your 09, id say take it to your dealer. its still new. let them figure it out.
Yeh I would take it in but I just hate to be without it for more than a day if it comes to that. I really don't want to have to drive around my lifted cherokee. I'm very familiar with troubleshooting and fixing cars I was mostly just wondering if anybody else has had a similar problem.
i would have to say it sounds like a short in the line somewhere. have you tried installing a higher fuse and plugging in for 2 seconds (not long enough to do damage to the wires is there is a short)
you can see of the wires get warm. if you smell/see smoke, then you plugged in too long.
sounds like an easy fix but trying to figure the exact cause takes forever
