Default 2008 scion stock sub

does anyone know if the sub in the 08 is wired through one of the regular speakers? or on its own? because since i installed my new d2 i haven't had it work since. also anyone know how to open up the enclosure to see it to replace with better subwoofer or connect an amp to?

as far as I know, its all driven by a separate harness that goes to the HU.... and only the factory HU have the connectors for it

ok, i wasn't sure because my buddy's cobalt came with the same stereo set up as the 08 tc's and his factory 6 runs off the back speaker wire.

Its the same sub that came in the RS2/RS3. It does have its own connection in the trunk. Albeit its not driven strickly off of its own frequencies. The piece itself is tuned just for that "sub" and its only a lil 6 inch cheap looking thing. You are better off just taking it out and putting an amp in the space left behind. Gotta step up to a better sub. Unless you are REALLY happy with it

My biggest complaint was it couldnt carry a low note for crap. Punchy notes were allright, but anything that was low and extended, it was never there.

ya i know it is only a lil 6in. i was just curious if it would still work sicne i had a drop in bass when i hooked up my new hu. ya i've already got subs for the car, i just need to build a box for it. is it easy to take that sub out? how do you do it because i couldnt figure it out last night. i know where its located, just now how to get that cover off. because believe me im far from satisfied since i used to be big into soundquality with some bass and that definately didnt cut it.

Its a few bolts, and a connector (for the amp) and it comes right out.

If you replace it, I might be interested in buying the stock sub off of you. If so, pm me and let me know what you'll want for it.

I don't know about you guys, but the stock amp settings on my '08's sub are freaking terrible. They have it crossed over at about 140Hz and the gain is at least 5db too high. It murders any music I try to play through it. It was so bad I've disconnected it until I can tinker with it.

I pulled it out the other day and took a look at it but didn't have time to work on it yet. First I'm going to try replacing the driver with an old Dual Mag Excelon I have laying around from my last car. Then I'm going to try my hand at fixing the amplifier. There are two unmarked recessed screws epoxy'ed in place that I'm assuming are crossover and gain adjustments. I'll test that theory if I can break the glue. If I have any success, I'll post a write-up here for anyone else with factory sub woes.
