Default 2x10inch subwoofer

hey guys i have a couple questions and did a basic search, but couldnt find anything..

i plan to upgrade my audio subwoofers soon. first off i am keeping my old amp. it is a phoenix gold R15:1 monoamp, 1500watts at 2ohm, and 700watts rms at 4ohm.

my goal is to have tight and quick bass, i listen to lots of rock, trance, hiphop

i am considering 2x10inch setup for quicker response and tighter bass and was considering this amp
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=15042

it has 400 watts rms at 4ohms.

MY question is, if i get 2 of these subs and run them in parrallel connection, would i get 800 watts RMS? or would i be better off getting an 800 watt subwoofer instead?

any reccomendtations on a tight bass subwoofer(s) for under 300 bucks?

thanks, any help would be apprecaited

2. for even placement. unless you're gonna have a big box in the middle of your trunk.

i got a 10" jl w6v2 and it's working fine for me. and don't forget sound deadening... it'll help out.

i'm sure you can score a w6 for under 300...

i have some w3's / w0's... if you're interested.

Performance of the W6 at about 1/3 the price - Elemental Designs 11Ov.2 = $120 after forum discount...

JL's are awesome subs, but the price you'll pay is kinda silly when there are more cost efficient methods to get equal performance... I was a huge JL fan untill I came across Elemental Designs...

If you're stuck on getting those Diamonds (which are good subs) - You'll need the Dual 4 ohm that you have linked there... you'll run them in series/parallel to get a 4ohm final load at the amp which will allow the amp to produce 700watts...

Image dynamics is a great brand, I used to have one of their 8" subs, and I loved the sound.

man i getting so many reccomendations of these new name brands to hit the market.. does anyone have any experience that they can compare to? like saying "oh this elemental design hits quicker than the w6 on the same amp, but doesnt hit as loud" i guess i really gotta listen to it before i buy it?

I love my 2 10" Alpine Type Rs but Im not exactly an audio proffessional. My 1000 watt Alpine MRD-1005 amp is turned down to like 30%ish, and on SSP Feel its almost ridiculous, but I suppose you can never have too much bass

am i missing sumthing here y is every1 saying 4ohms? when u run in 2 4ohmloads in parrellel u get a 2ohm load with those diamond subs

personally i'd run 2 10"idmax in a 2chamber seald box. good sq and spl sub for its price. (just my opinion but these would eat those w7s at price too but its just my 2cents) and seald box good with ur responsive & tight bass & quickrecovery just make sure they have enough juice
http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/prod...idmax&type=sub

oh n jus fyi my mtx7515 (msrp 250) can keep up with a w6-v2-d4s (msrp 500)

I would definitely stick with eD or Image Dynamics personally.... once I heard eD's subs, I'm stuck on them.. like I said - for the price, there's nothing that can compare..

that's strange, even online (not authorized) you'll only find the 10w6v2 for $300

http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=2059

That is enough to keep me from going back to JL.... since online transactions don't come with JL's warranty... eD has 3 year transferrable warranty and an OUTSTANDING customer support/tech support team!!! Awesome people to deal with

hey sci_tc_guy, i was looking at the spec on the eD page and i am a little bit confused:

http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=34

i am looking at that particular model and it seems they offer this setup and in 2ohm dvc and a 4ohm dvc. i will be purchasing two of these subwoofers and condisering my amp can put out 700 watts rms @ 4ohm and 1500 watts rms at 2ohm. should i get both in 2ohms since i can put out 1000 watts rms with my amp. where my amp is unable to produce the same power with the 4ohm load?

also i am still confused on this part:

2x10inch subs (2x 500 watts rms @ 2ohm) is that equivelent to 1x1000 watt rms @ 2ohm? (will the 2x10's be able to hit just had deep and hard as the single 1000 watt?)

i know im a rookie and im still learning, any help would be appreciated.

thanks again

can ur amp run 1ohm stable? or is it a two channel amp? because what ur saying is that u want to get the 2 2ohm subs (thinking u can use 1500watts @ 2ohms) but as i state earlier running 2 4ohm subs in parrellel yields a 2ohm load. and if u grab 2 2ohm subs and run those in parrellel u get a 1ohm load. unless u want to run the 2 2ohm subs on seperate channels reason why i ask if it can be a 2channel amp. but ya 2 500watts = 1000watts yay go math. and 2 10s = more surface space to move air so on paper it would do better but jus depends on the subspecs

n u can just grab a prefab box but just make sure its build to ur sub specs

edit: sorry forgot the eds r dvc u get a 2ohm load with the 2ohmdvc

im sorry looks like i got the specs wrong for my amp. it is actually 500 watts rms @ 4ohms and 1000 watts rms @ 2ohms. the ratings i have posted earlier were for peak power and not RMS. unfortunately my amp is not stable at 1ohm resistance. yes i was thinking the same, since the subwoofers are dual voice coil, i can directly transfer it to the other sub. here is my monoamp dblock:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_1490.html

ok so i guess most of my questions have been answared:

2x10inch eD > one great big subwoofer
2x10 eD 110.v3d2 @ 2 ohm = 1000 watts rms
eD offers 3 year transferable warranty =]
will need 1.0cf sealed box for tighter bass response
will use old 1.0 farad monster capacitor.

anything else i should know?

thanks guys you guys are life saver!

That is the forum discount page.... or just call Chris at eD for ordering... eD's phone number is 641.792.2501

You'll want to get the dual 2ohm subs if you're getting 2 of them, wire them together in series/parallel for a 2ohm mono load to get 1000w from your amp.... You can get a box built from Elemental Designs to your liking, they'll know what the subs need as far as airspace and dimentions/clearances...

ummm.... I think that's about it... BTW: those 11O's are gonna sound damn clean with that 1000w on them, MAKE SURE to let me know what you think about eD and the subs themselves... also, hop over to www.icixsound.com for a lot of car audio information / install pictures / eD info / forum / etc....

hey ben, thanks for the heads up. i already sent chris a PM yesterday after i posted on this thread. hopefully the eD subs will sound more accurate than my old setup. (2x12 infinity kappa (2001 version)... they sounded horrible they hit very deep when i listen to hiphop but had trouble recovering when it came to rock and trance. im most likely not gonna buy it this month (xmas sucks, puts my wallet in coma). i will probably buy it around janurary-ish. but i will defnitely let you know how it sounds because you have been so helpful to me! im just waiting for chris to PM me now. thanks again ben

Not a problem - I'm 99.9% sure you'll like the eD's way better than the infinitys.... I've never been a big fan of Infinity personally... I know what you mean about the wallet coma - I'm still trying to get $$ together to get my 13Ov.2 an amp and enclosure
