aftermarket steering wheel help
i know theres a lot of threads out there cuz i read them all, but none of them say anything about the airbags that i need to know. i want to get rid of my airbag light. a lot say remove the light and tape it but no i dont want to do that. i still want my airbags to work cuz my girlfriend rids with me, im cool if mine doesnt go off but knowing i could kill her cuz of a steering wheel is stupid. please dont say "then dont install it" all i want to know is, is there a way i could put resistors like people did on the aftermarket seats. if so does anyone know what the size of resistor i need? thanks
this is the only reason i put my stock wheel back on, i could not find a way to have the airbags work on my car with resistors or any other way and wasnt able to find someone who fixed the issue. I even went to my local toyota tech trying to get some help and he didnt know what to do, so i thought the risk wasnt worth it. Good Luck and ill be watching if anyone can fix that.
well a possible thought that everyone has had is to take the resistance of the airbag and then put in the same resistor ohm wise that it has and reset the battery.......
also cars have independant airbags now,it was a government requirement a few years back that if one was removed or failed the other occupants in the car still had airbags........there is a sensor for every airbag in the car.........and they all work independantly..........yet ran off the same computer brain.
my guess why the resistors did not work for you was they were the wrong ohms........not sure but it might be differant than the seat ohms.

it is different then the seat ohms.
my guess would be to connect the whole circuit except for the harness that connects the main harness to the spiral assembly (ie make sure stock steering wheel is on 100%). then place the ohmmeter into the socket on the spiral assembly what ever the resistance is red use that size resistor in the harness that should plug into the spiral assembly.

This is why I'm getting my OEM wheel custom wrapped in leather. Gonna look sick as any aftermarket wheel, but still retain all the features. Mine will look like this
only with extra padding to make it super thick and beefy like this
. Tried to get a group buy goin on but nobody wanted in so I'm just doing this myself. I love to be the first and set the trends.
