Im using FLEAs method to paint my waterfall, ive sanded it down, and really scratched it up, evened it out with 1000 grit and have applied the primer and the black spray paint now after waiting 2-3 hours for it to dry, I tried to sand/wetsand it with 2000 grit sandpaper. Problem is, the corners or curves and alot of other random areas and looking black and looks faded compared to other areas, I smoothed everything out and just applied another coat of black just to make it more black, do I need to wait a little longer to use the 2000 grit? Or should I apply the clear coat in its 3-4 coats and then wait til the morning then sand it down? I dont want to however apply the clearcoat then sand down tomorrow and then the black fades again, I would have to apply another coat of black. I dont necesarrily want it really shiny, if anything I would like the matte black look, but regardless I want it smooth and will apply the wax and stuff after. Thanks.

 

i just sprayed mine without primer or sanding. just cleaned the surface and went to it. been over a year and not a single scratch or chip.

 

Use a block to help you sand, it could be from uneven sanding. You would also have to use a satin or matte black color.

 

When you wet sand it it is cutting intothe corners.......no worries........put about 3 coats of primer on with in say 20 minutes of each other and let it dry for a hour.......put another coat on after wet sanding with 2000 and then clean and paint it..

 

I had that same problem so I just didnt sand it. Only been 3 days so cant really tell you if itll hold up...hope it does though

btw anyone paint their interior in Blue Ribbon Metallic???
I did a few dash pieces in Nautical Blue Metallic but I think its too dark. It only looks good (Metallic) in direct sun.

what kind of paint are u using???

 

is it possible that you've oversanded these areas?

 

my bet is that you oversanded it

 

I did mine so light that i barely touched it. Cuz I didnt wanna scratch off any, obviously it didnt work...
