Default Alternator Whine

Alright, I have tried everything I can think of so I'm going to describe all of my system to you guys and see if anyone has any idea on what I can try to get rid of it.

When I just have the car on accessory, engine off, everything works and sounds fine. But when I turn on the car I get this very annoying high pitched whine throughout the system.

I have a carcomputer installed that acts as my headunit underneath my passenger seat. It is grounded in the trunk at the same spot where both my amps are grounded. (It was grounded elsewhere, but I moved it to try and fix the problem, didnt work. The computer is pulling power and ACC from the wiring from the stock headunit wiring.

The Amps are both grounded in the trunk to a bolt on the right side of the trunk, just behind the seats, I can get a picture if thats not clear enough. The amps are both using 4 guage wire with ring terminals on the end, the car computer ground is just bare wire, all in the same grounding spot.

There are two 4 guage wires running from the battery to each of the amps, and the ACC for both is from the acc for the stock headunit.

The gains on the amps are tuned to the maximum RMS output of the speakers/subs for a specific frequency. I dont think this is causing the problem, but can play around with the gain some more if that might help.

For the rear speakers, the wire is directly connected to the speakers, but for the front, they are run up to the stock wiring and spliced in. I dont think this is the problem, but it is something I need to fix eventually.

The RCA cables go from the computer to the amps and dont run next to any power cables, just cross perpendicularry(sp?) once. The RCA's to the speaker amp have ground loop isolaters on them, but they dont help enough.

Sorry for the wealth of information, I just dont know what the problem is so I wanted to post as much information as possible.

Thanks in advance for whomever can help me.

Thanks, I had seen that before, but forgot just how much information it had in it. I'll try some of the suggestions in there, but if I still cant figure it out Ill post up again.

the main thing for me was the grounding. I re-grounded my grounds from my amps and it worked. Sand the point down really good!

Alright, so I followed the guide to identifing where alternator whine is in the Top 10 reasons.

I figured out that the alternator whine is coming from the computer. When I unplug the ground from the usb audio device from the comptuer the whine goes away.

So either it is a problem with the power supply in the computer or a problem with the ground for the computer. The computer is grounded to the same spot as the amps, so I doubt that, but the ground for the computer is a small wire and is fairly long.

Where is a good ground next to the passenger seat, mabye if I can shorten it and beef up the wire guage it could help.

Also, I was thinking about doing the big 3 wiring upgrade in the engine if that will help.

Bump for a good grounding spot next to the passenger seat.
