Default Amp Concealment

Anyone know of a good place to conceal 2 amps? The storage area to the right of my spare is going to be custom fiberglass box enclosure and concealed. Is there any room for mounting behind the fender well covers?

A little, also if you take off the rear interior pieces by the cupholders in the back, there is space. I have mine there.

Yeah right under the rear window right by the drivers side behind the speaker is perfect for one amp, you can fit the other in the exact same spot on the other side.

Here's a pic of someone else's install like that. I did the same thing though. You can fit pretty big amps in there on either side of the tC.

My only concern with mounting behind something like that is cooling. You could be killing the life of your amp if it's not getting proper air circulation.

I plan on mounting an amp in the floor (right of spare) but will be putting in a couple computer fans on either side of the compartment to circulate air through it.

No cooling problems, at least with the Elemental Designs amp. I've had mine in for several months running door components and a sub. Have run it for hours at a time in the hot ___ Louisiana heat, has never even cut off. I wired a couple cheap fans to it but honestly I don't think I even needed to do that.

The fans probably help... but what I'm thinking more of isn't necessarily immediate overheating, but also lessening the life of the amp by overheating the components over time. But it would depend on the amp and probably what kind of power you're putting out.

pretty much any company has a year warranty on their products and if it doesn't blow within a year its not going to blow

Mandos pointed this location out in one of his how-tos and said the recirc will blow right over the amps in this location. Not to mention it's a very big space and the heat will disperse well there.

Ah, that's good to know then. Didn't know air actually flowed through that area.

Ignore my other posts...

MDF plate to attach the amp to. Then either bolted through new holes in the metal or build a spacer to hold it taut. I did both:

Using the bolts to attach.

Attached by just resting on V4 and wedged in.

As for the air circulation, as long as you don't seal up the defrost vents(and I think I'm the only one dumb enough to have done that), the easiest path for air to travel through the vehicle when it's not on reciruclate = into the rear speaker grills and through the back to the vent openings in the very back of the car.

How big are they? I got two smaller amps. One is my spare tire, the other under my driver's seat.

Nine.1 is 14.7x10x2.25

Nine.2 is 12x10x2.25

That's the reason for no bolts in the Nine.1...they'd be through the amp case.

What if you want ot make adjustment on your amp, it would be troublesome to pull all the panels apart..

there shouldn't need to be any adjusting to amps after the initial set up
