Amp in Cubby...Cooling Q?
#22
and here i was worried about running two. i'm planning on installing a smaller alpine amp (MRP-M450) to power a 10" sub. considering you don't have any problems with your amp, i think i'll be fine with just one fan.
thanks for explaining the soldering part. i saw a basic soldering kit at radio shack for under $15. i think i'm going to buy it and practice melting stuff.
thanks again!

dr. i, i got another quick question for you. i bought some butt splices at home depot that i was planning on using to connect the harness to my new deck. yesterday i saw some butt splices at auto zone that said they were specifically for car audio, gold plated and all. these buchanan butt splices from home depot are definitely not gold plated. should i fork up the money and get the other ones? is there really any noticeable difference?

Gold is purely for corrosion resistance (not really an issue behind a head unit). Gold is actually a relatively poor electrical conductor-- and platinum is worse. Bare copper is the best conductor. I buy all of my terminals in plain copper/brass (which is limited to the occasional ring or spade connector-- everything else gets soldered).
