Default Amp keeps blowing fuses.

Hey guys I need a little help. I just hooked up two 12" Type R's to a Kenwood 9104d amp and the fuses keep blowing on it. Even when the settings are on low on my HU they will randomly blow. Have you guys heard of this happening at all?

check all of your wires, allll of them.. it might be pinched somewhere causing the fuse to blow, or it could even been hooked up incorrectly, check your ground wire too

Also, which fuses are blowing? The one at the battery, the ones on the amp?

ya check the ground wire and make sure you also have the proper fuse size as well (depending on the amount of power you are trying to pull).

whats the rms on the amp?
is it fuses on the amp? or on the power wire?
what gauge wire are you using?

Alright, I've checked the wires they all seem to be fine. Plus I had my old amp hooked up to the same wiring right before I put this one on. The Subs are dual 4ohm and both are 500rms and I'm not quite sure how they are wired to the amp. They are either wired down to 2ohms or maybe even 1. I'm using 4 gauge wiring for power and the fuses that are blowing are the one on the amp. I'm not sure if this helps but the one next to the battery is a 100 amp fuse and the ones on the amp are both 30.

What is the recomended fuse for that amp at that load.....100amp fuse might not be the right fuse for that amount of watts.

Make sure the ground and + are the same order on the new amp as the old one. I made that mistake when I replaced my amp on my first system with a better one back in highschool. Felt pretty dumb after.

I looked through the manual and everything and couldn't find anything on what was recommended. Should I try a larger one?

I would not use a larger one till you verify what it needs to be.

Call a few stereo stores and give them the specs on your amp and what wattage you are feeding and what wire size you are using and they can get you in the right direction.

I know my NINe.5 I use 0/1 for power and 150amp fuse that was recomended.

If you just put a higher fuse in you risk electrical fires.......fuses blow for a reason.

What make/model amp is this? That way i can look up the specs.

As others have stated: DO NOT PUT A LARGER FUSE IN. Unless you wanna see your Scion on fire.

He stated that (Kenwood KAC-9104D) in his initial post.

It's specified as "1-Ohm stable", but is regulated to only supply 900w at 1-Ohm, which is the same power as it's rated for with a 2-Ohm load.

I'm a bit suspicious of that, thinking it could be blowing fuses if it's at 1-Ohm, the gain is cranked and the source material is really bass heavy. However, it'd be best to rule out the other potential causes first, as people have already mentioned.

The amp is a Kenwood 9104d. I just went out to my car and it seems to be working fine. The first time the fuses blew and I took it to a shop and they just replaced them. Then last night it just randomly shut off.

Check to see if your speakers are wired correctly to give you a proper ohm load.turn the bass booost off if it is on......and set your gains with a DIMM to the proper wattage.

Ok. So if you're running it at 1-ohm or 2-ohms, according to Kenwood's site, you will be pulling 900watts RMS.

900watts is about 75 amps. That's the RMS power. If you got the gains turned up and are listening to some bass heavy music, you will draw even more during the spikes. If the amp is in the back of the car, you've probably got about 15ft or so of cable running to it.

I think your cable is too small. I would get a 2 or 0 gauge wire.
