Default amp kit

i drive a 2006 scion tc, and i am purchasing a 10" infinity subwoofer and a 400W alpine amp:

infinity sub: http://www.cardomain.com/item/INFREF1052W?ref=frog

alpine amp: http://www.shop.com/op/~Alpine_MRP_M...3?sourceid=298

(i'm not buying from these stores, but those are the products. i plan on buying both from etronics.com. your thoughts?)

i know i need to buy an amp kit to have these installed. what kind of amp kit am i looking for? i've read that i need some RCA cables as well. again, what am i looking for?

thanks alot, and if you have any other comments about what i'm buying, feel free to leave feedback.

Rather than buying each item individually, it's likely a better idea (and usually less expensive) to buy everything you need in a complete kit.

How much do you want to spend?

Here's a link to one which meets your requirements, and it's just $16 with shielded RCA cables.

The package linked here costs a bit more at $36, but has better twisted-pair RCA cables.

Just wondering why is it so much better to get "twisted-pair RCA cables?" Does it really make a difference to be twisted??

I don't mean to be a thread stealer!

Twisted-pair cables do a better job of rejecting noise, than do shielded cables. Shielded cables can be problematic in the car because there's electricity flowing everywhere through the car's metal, such that the shielding has lots of opportunity to pick up noise on it's way from the front to the rear. Twisted-pair isn't the solution in every situation (some cars are infamous for being noisey), but certainly gives you a much better chance of having a noise free system.

Is this what you are talking about (preout convertor) http://www.crutchfield.com/S-BFeY5jA...=721&I=142SLC4?

I have a similar question, and can't find the exact answer (sorry for the minor thread hi-jack, but it's related). I didn't get the factory sub with my tC because I have amps and subs from my last car. I plan on doin my performance upgrades before replacing the HU, but I'd like to throw in my subs. My question is, is there pre-existing wires in the hatch for the sub (and where) or do I need to use the speaker wires from the rear speakers to make it work? (I do have my 4-channel amp that I suppose I could wire in if I had to, for the front and rear)

I believe you have to find the speaker wires going to the rear speakers and splice into them. Then run that into either a LOC or into your amp's speaker-level inputs (if it has them)
