Default amp overheating

i have an alpine plv-7 sub. It's been working great the past few months but recently i havnt been able to turn the volume as high as i used to. i would normal turn up to 25/40 to make it bump real good. But now i can go only up to 15/40 until the bass starts cutting out. I took it to a car audio place and tehy said the amp is overheating because of the summer time weather now. I find this hard to believe because why would it start happening just now after a few months of use?

and i dont know what to do because the amp is in the sub. I'm thinking something jsut might be plan wrong with the amp. idk im going to try and put a fan up to the ports of the sub and see if that helps it.

this is a known problem that has to do with the internal amp within the plv series. this is why they are no longer making it.
