Default amp power wire

Hi All

I was just wondering how long of a power wire I will need to get from the battery to the back seat that where I will mount my amp. I don't have anything to measure it but I figured it would be 6-7ft some let know please

thanks

i didn't do the install myself, but in looking how they routed the wire, (through the firewall where the steering column comes through, then back down the drivers side, accross the rear seats, into the right side cubbie by the spare tire), i'd say at least 12-15 feet.

Just get a long one, and trim it down as necessary.

What do you mean, "to the back seat"? To the back of the rear seatback? Replacing your rear seat bottom cushion with an amp rack? Removing the entire rear seat permanently?

If you mean to the hatch (which would be the same distance as when mounting the amp on the back of the rear seatback), then ~15' might be enough. I routed mine under the car instead, and it took about 17'.

Maybe someone measured theirs and will post...

If you're planning on purchasing the minimum amount you can possibly get away with, DON'T. Unless you're perfect, you'll most likely be trimming that sucker down with a hacksaw after messing up on a terminal, accidentally cutting off a significant amount of wires when stripping the pvc jacket off, etc.

^ That's good advice, to always get a little more than needed. Most kits contain more than needed, and are priced so that you get more than paying by the foot anyway.

Yep. I started out with 50 feet. I now have one 5-6ft. piece sitting in my trunk. Mind you I had to run it through my car, into a distro block, split it into two 3-4ft. pieces, and then two 2-3 foot ground wires, into a distro block, then another 2 feet into a ring terminal on the child restraint hook mount.

My distro block is fused, although if you're running one amp, you need only fuse it with 6-18" of the battery.
