Default Amplifier Help Needed...

Hello Sl, I need your help!! Recently, I upgraded my factory headunit to an Alpine IVA-W200. Before the upgrade, I had a Kicker ZX amplifier and Comp subwoofer installed. The shop that I had install the amp wired it through the hi-pass outputs on the amp into the factory subwoofer wiring harness, which worked great for the factory HU. They also ran the Remote Power into the factory subwoofer wiring harness. With the new HU, however, that obviously doesn't work. I ran RCA cables from the amp to the HU, and connected the remote power into the factory wiring harness into a switched 12v(red) port in the factory stereo wiring harness, I believe at pin 3. From what I've read(I'm a total audio newb) that should've worked just fine, and I should have been able to enjoy my setup with the new HU, but when I turned the car on, nothing! Well, no bass. The status light on the amp isn't on, either. I went through and checked all the fuses, and they are all fine. I gotta say, I'm up sh*t creek without a paddle here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i would think that it is because the stock wiring harness for the sub on the side isnt connected to the new hu and wont fit since its made for the scion hu

Yeah, I'm not trying to run it through the old sub harness. Like I said, I set it up with RCA cables directly into the new HU. The power/ground wires remained unchanged, and the remote power wire was connected into the radio wiring harness.

so is your power wire hooked to the battery? if so then the amp light should at least come on.

the problem is most likely with ur remote turn on, doesnt matter if ur power wire and ground wire are good, if the amp doesnt recieve the signal to turn on it wont. I spliced mine into the blue wire in the harness which worked fine.

In theory, the red switched 12v lead should work, however there is a dedicated wire on the radio harness specifically put there to send power-on signal to an amplifier. There are two blue leads on the harness. One with a white stripe, one without. I don't remember which one is which but one is that remote lead and one is a power antenna lead. I would look it up if I were you to be sure, but splicing into that lead for your amp turn-on should work.

the blue with white wire on the aftermarket radio harness is the amp turn on wire. for some reason the since 07 ALPINE's amp turn on wires burn out all the time!!!!!! the best thing to do is crimp the solid blue (power antenna) and blue with white(amp turn on) together with your remote wire, they seem to be fine when you do that.
2. get hold of a multi meter and check to see what your voltage is reading at the amp.

Definitely a good plan. Multimeters save lives.
