Default Any Tc's with a Police Scanner installed?

I've always wanted a police scanner in my Tc, but no nothing about them. I found some site that gives all the frequency's to the local pd, plus it might be good for speed traps. Any pics and recommedations would be great.

Im not sure what area you live in, but do police and fire communcations in cars & trucks. and more than likely they use an ecncrypted channel, if you're in cali. the only think you can hear is some CHP traffic on 153.095mhz if im not mistaken,, but if you want a scanner, still for other stuff such as fire and other medical.. heres the link to one that may fit in a din spot in a dash with modification. here ya go! ;

It is illegal to use in the following states: Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, and maybe New York (depending on how you intrepret NY's laws).

Is it pretty much illegal to use in all states IF you are using it in the commission of a crime (yes, this includes speeding.)

Laws here: http://www.afn.org/~afn09444/scanlaws/scanner5.html

Also, the majority of police/emergency services in the United States do NOT use encrypted communications. Very few agencies are encrypted, let alone digital. (The cost of doing this would be tremendous, and doing so would hinder agencies from communicating with neighboring agencies.)

I use a Uniden BCT8 in my tC and it's quite entertaining/informative to see what's going on around town. It's also pre-programmed to pick up weather, aircraft, CB, and other types of transmissions. It will probably not help you find speed traps, even with the "beartracker" function that supposedly alerts you if a patrol vehicle with mobile extender is nearby. (It's never worked for me)

If you want to avoid highway speed traps on long road trips, get a CB radio to communicate with truckers. Off the highway...just don't speed or get a laser jammer and/or radar detector.

Thanks for the advice, i've had a passport x50 and it's saved me a million times. Now i'm not one of those kids who's like "i bought a radar detector and i was doing a 100 and i still got pulled over" I know how to speed, i generally do the speed limit or i keep with the flow of traffic, but it would be nice to know where they are, cause even if your just keeping up with traffic and your going 10 miles over, they still get you around quota time. I'll check that out though.
