Did you download the instructions? I did, and frankly, it looked like way too much work for this.
I have the '06 with the XM/Sirius - ready HU and I thought it would be much easier!

Let me know which way you go...

Just get 'Plug n Play' like I did.

You, obviously, don't have to get the same unit is me though. (They have cheaper portable units.) If you spend that much on a CAR-ONLY set-up, it kinda defeats the purpose of it being portable and being able to play it inside your home. Like I plan to do later on, you can always hardwire it to the HU with an Aux Adapter. Its still cheaper then buying the radio receiver and kit from trdsparks. (Minus the 3-month free subscription. )

I thought about that - but even the portable one needs and antenna - and the AUX port is in the center console - don't know about how to do a quick, but clean antenna for that...

But look at how much of the tC they have to rip-apart for all the cables, antenna, etc.
Ugly. Check the website and you'll see the link in the upper-right corner called Installation. It's a PDF and you can see what's involved. No way in hell I'd trust CC to do it.

My friend put the one from trdsparks(scion sirius kit) in his car, but we just mounted it in the top right of his dash. works great no problems, just make sure it is under the windshield and clear of the pillar.

Wasn't the unit install a pain tho? Looks like you have to remove the HU and rewire it all?
Can you ask him about it?

He did it in about 20 minutes, I think it plugged into the back of the factory radio.

We mounted the tuner box under the right kick panel there is enough room to put it behind it. That saves you from removing the seat (major pita) and mounting the antenna on the top right of the dash saves you from removing your whole interior.
Hope this helps. I have the pioneer one I mounted it the same way. plus I got mine for 75. :D

Thanks a lot for the info. Did the radio just plug into the back of the Pioneer HU?
Appreciate the help!

Oh, and $75? Nice.

I just found out his was XM, It looks like the Sirius one has that wind shield antenna.
I think you could get a different antenna for the Scion Sirius kit, one that is small enough to mount on the dash.

If you have the stock 06 deck (ipod or not) you would want the Scion, Sirius Or XM tuner kit and fit kit. That would be plug and play. As for price trdsparks is the best price I have seen for either XM or Sirius.

I got mine for 75. because I have a after market pioneer deck.

Hope this helps

Yeah, if I would have known about mounting my antenna on the passenger side of the dash ahead of time, i wouldn't have had to tear apart my baby! I waiting for CircuitCity to get more of the DEI Micro Antenna in stock so that I can mount that antenna inside my ride. (I'm too lazy to take apart my tC , plus I have a $50 GC for CircuitCity-so in essence the new antenna would be free.) Install would be a breeze-mount antenna on passenger side of dash with 3M Double-sided Tape, pop out glove box, take off plastic interior around HU, AC, Cubby hole, and Cup holders, run antenna behind glovebox and around through the Center Console (right where my existing wire was.), Put everything back together. That's it. Probably take about 15-20 mins, tops. Another chap on this site mentioned where to mount the antenna. Of course AFTER my install!

Check out my install in my Sig, I mounted the antenna inside of my car and hardwired everything. It was a very simple straight forward install. I was thinking about just getting the add on to the headunit, but then I was wondering how does it look like with the song/station name, and also from a clarity standpoint, being its a stock headunit.
