Auto up and down windows
I did a quick search and came up empty.
Anyone know if you can turn off the auto up and down for the driver's window?
My fiance backed out of our garage with the door open
and the door stop bent (the crap out of) the window track inside the front of the door. So now she can only roll it down about 5 inches before it comes off track again.
Anyone know what I can do to fix that? It's in a terrible spot, and I'm thinking we might be talking about a new door.
The auto-down disabling is a short term fix.
Oh, and this is her tC, not mine. Hence her still being alive.

Just tell her to be careful when opening it. It doesnt auto down every time, only if you pull/push the button all the way. If you just move it to the first "stop" it works like a normal window.
Other than that you could disconnect a battery cable for a bit and reconnect, and then not re-initialize the windows. The auto up/down shouldnt work then. Although you may not be able to open it from the drivers side button.

Thanks guys. I know about the two position thing, but you have to know when you only want it to go down part way, it goes all the way. Or at least that's what happens to me most of the time.
I forgot about the battery disconnect, but as I recall the passenger won't work at all.
I guess I should assume the track will get fixed at some point and not try to destroy anything.

ditto on the "just be careful with the switch"
and then I'll go ahead and hijack this thread if you don't mind...
I did the same thing in my '06 tC and wracked my brain trying to figure out how to fix this cheaply. After realizing it was going to cost a LOT at a body shop, I took the door apart and fixed it myself.
You'll want to pull the panel off, the window out, and then pull out the rubber window track weatherstrip (This might be difficult if the track got so mangled that it is essentially holding the bottom of the weatherstripping).
It's a lot of wiggling around on the floor to get in just the right position and cursing at the pliers because they won't fit the way you need leverage. And then realizing you have no clue WHERE the silly track is supposed to be, so taking apart the passenger door for reference.
But, it is mighty satisfying to fix something that looked completely hopeless.
Also, be careful if you take out the door stop to bend it back (mine was bent a little). There is a LOT of force in the spring.
Anyway, good luck!

To disable the auto..
- Take out the control
- Take them apart
- There is black patch(contact pad for the switch) with initial shown below
- Cover up the (for driverside PAD, PAU, DAD, DAU) and (passenger side UPAU, DNAU) with sticker or scotch tape
- Put them back together..
