Availability of stuff for the tc1
Hey guys, just looking for some thoughts/opinions on this.
With the advent of the tc2 and possibly manufacturers moving their "R&D" to developing products for it, do you guys think that we should start acquiring some of the tc1 "aftermarket" items (spoiler, clazzio seat covers, whatever it may be) because they might either go up in price, go down in supply, just become more difficult to acquire?
Or would tc1 items instead go down in price because people move to the tc2 and demand for tc1 items go down?
I don't know if this is an economics question or what - but just hoping that someone who has been around to see cars change generations would be able to give some insight on this.
Thanks in advance.

Just because there's a new model doesn't mean aftermarket parts availability is going to drop off suddenly. For example, look at the market for Honda. There are more parts available now for older models than there were when it was current.
Plus the tC1 was sold from late 2004 up until early 2011. That's a lot of cars. Companies would be crazy to discontinue parts for a car that's only been out of production less than 1 year.
Now for OEM accessories, expect those to disappear rather quickly.

if there is a market for it, people will always offer parts for it. you can still find plenty of parts for older cars, BMW's, mercedes, VW, honda, subaru, jeep, corvettes, mustangs, camaros, pick-up trucks, nissan z. supras.
there will be OEM parts for a good while now. people will still be driving these cars for a while. they're pretty reliable and economical.

OEM accessories probably will be pretty readily available until the tc1 really is no longer on dealer lots (new or used)..even then I don't predict anything going away anytime soon.
OEM parts maybe, but accessories are already disappearing. No TYCs, no lip kits, no exhausts, etc. They're not producing and shipping new accessories. All you'll find is what's left over at various dealers.
