Seems like basically a nice full-featured laptop PC @ ~3x the price, but in a smaller chassis with a small touchscreen. Should get cheaper in the future, and there will likely be competitive products for less than half that cost within a year.

pretty cool features, but for the price id rather buy a laptop and a d3. and with the price of both of them nowadays youll even have money for a ps2 slim. still cool none the less though. looks like its targeting for those who want a simpler all in one solution.

cool toy

the point of a car pc is to be able to have complete control over ur hu. you can get software/hardware for good sound quality, control x-overs, ta, etc. u can dl your entire music library to ur car, use wifi to sync it with ur desktop pc. you can hook it up to ur piggy back system and monitor ur engine. get odbII connections, sat radio, gps, etc. plus u can change the interface and software u want and not be limited by the platform.

I hear Mercedes uses them so it must be good. But then again Ford uses them too

If your gonna put this much money into it your better off building your own for 1/2 the cost.

yes and no. you're really paying for the software and integration.

you're better off talking with the people here with carpc's all the decks like this are around $2k-2500 easy.

I like the specs on the one you posted but this one has been out for a minute
http://store.mp3car.com/MP3Car_G4_po..._p/sdk-014.htm

you should check out mp3car.com also, I think that is where most of the car pc people here went.

I say build one, it could be more fun that way. lol GL

The big pluses for the G4 and Azentek's are the simplified software, easy access buttons, and (the most important IMO) a double din in-dash w/ the computer located directly behind the screen and not in a remote location.

Theres always advantages to these compared to building your own, but I just don't see $2499 being a reasonable price. I could build that computer with those exact same specs for roughly around $400-500. The whole project would probably only cost $1300-1500, not sure on how much a 7" touchscreen LCD would be for this, so I'm quoting around $1000. Only problem, like stated above, would be that the computer would be located in a remote location.

Also, people don't really do these for browsing the internet and playing games, it's for mass media storage (1TB HDD's are only $247 now, so compare that to an iPod which is $250 for 80GB of storage), navagation, or even the almighty tuning PC (DANGER TO MANIFOLD ! ).
