You'd be surprised what a tC can handle for current draw....
But I'm gonna agree with what was said above...batcap if you really want one of those, but an alt rewind would be better.

Batcap but not just any Batcap (Xtatic), look into the Supercap, even better, you have enough battery(for audio a yellow top would of been best) so you really do not need a batcap, supercap would be, is what, I am doing
JLTD, sorry buddy, you are not correct.

Do not let the under 2 lbs of weight fool you, these things are just amazing and i have owned them, used them, seen them in other installs, never would of thought they could do what they do either, until I saw it in person.
(I spent 20 years in high end electronics repair in the US Navy so I do understand how things work;)

There is alot of difference in them, if you have a stock battery a batcap is a good mod to go with. If you have a better battery, like the Odyssey 1200 I have the Supercap is a better deal. Then again, I pay no where near retail;)
As a matter of fact, I should be recieving a custom made product very similar but even higher output sometime in the next few months

I have a custom alternator on my truck, only 120 amps but it cost me $15 for the custom core in a stock case, it has been on my truck for 5 years and 100k miles. I have a Yellow Top as well, never even disconnected or had to clean the terminals in the same 5 years. It has Stinger HPM platinum terminals and a clear pexi cover I made(real fun bending 1/4" pexi!) that protects it pretty well I guess.
I have ran as much as 3,600 watts and only used two regular caps(they were made for Arc Audio by Brax in Germany, probably the best conventional caps I ever used) and my system worked fine for short time periods at super high output levels but if I was driving at night I could really dim the lights on big bass hits but the music never faulted.
When I swaped to a Super Cap the lights never dimmed again though
I have been sitting in a manf personal truck, you know, the kind like most of us in business our systems are usually between installs and rarely run, lol! He had a known weak alternator, known bad battery and was running two big A/B amps, around 1,800 watts.
We sat and listened to his latest inventions for a bit and killed his battery. I started to get out to get me truck and jumper cables and he said to wait a couple of minutes so he could show me what a Super Cap was and could do, first time I heard of them was that day.
After about two minutes he was able to start the car from the energy restored into the supercap from the battery, simply blew me away.
Not only that, while we were sitting there with a dead battery . For those unfamiliar, a totally dead battery usually does not recover ever, below 10 volts and things usually shut down, that is determined to be a dead battery by the general use of the term. Anyway, sitting idling on what would be considered a dead battery, one you would need to drive a good distance to recharge, weak alternator, lights on, fan on full blast, he cranked up the system and it played flawlessly and the lights would not dime a bit.
This totally blew me away, I have been into cars for 37 years and never would of believed this if not for personal experience and I spent a few years as an electrician and 20+ as an electronic tech in the military so I do have an understanding of how things work.
How is that for a testimonial on a product?

Quite costly for certain, just get a batcap then, the biggest you can find and sometimes used or deals on them on Ebay, car audio forums, etc. Just be carefull to only deal with reputable sellers;)
