Okay...i emailed optima and i was told that the RED top 75/25 aka 75/35 is a good choice for our car (tC)....i also was doing some research and was reading about the change in the battery could be a bad thing because it would overpower the alternator causing it to work harder....
Is this True??? and would it actaully hurt the car unless i either upgrade the alt. (very expensive BTW) or Rewind the Alt. which i read varing opinions on whether it actually works.....
So whats the deal ...i thought a switch of the battery was okay but maybe not...anyone want to fill me in and anyone with the batteries already in i would love to see some pics and how it looks...plus any pros and cons!!!

Thanks in advance

75/35 fits great. Sits about an inch lower than the OEM battery. It's pretty much an OEM replacement-- it's not going to affect the car negatively in any way.

I would not think that a stronger car battery would hurt anything. If anything.... the good battery is going to give off a stronger volt under stress (cold weather mainly) ....which is what you want.

Red is for cars and trucks (starting). Yellow is deep cycle and not for starting. Blue is a marine deep cycle for trolling motors and such.

Exactly.

Red top for your engine. Yellow top for your trunk.

These are great batteries. They completely saved my azz driving from Toronto, Ontario to Milwaukee, WI. My old 4Runner had a 200amp Streetwires alternator, halfway through the drive the voltage regulator smoked and the alternator was pumping about 18 volts through the car. Dashboard lights were burning out, HVAC lights too, and I was freaking out at 2am in the deadest part of Michigan. But I had to keep driving. The optima took the beating for the 6 hours remaining and once I got home and fixed the voltage regulator it worked for 4 more years until I sold the truck. Only damage to the battery was a tiny melted spot by the battery terminal.

Don't ask me why but the yellow one is not designed to be used as a "Starting" battery. Deep cycles in general are used just to power stuff. They do make some that do both but the battery will be labled as such.

This is ridiculous!!!!
LOL... Yeah... it's been my exprience that if you go out and buy the newest coolest car... then you're going to have to wait for the industry to catch up. No problem finding anything for a 2002 Civic.

You can pick up an Optima battery at Blvd Audio on Hollywood just east of 441 or... go in there and talk to them... then find the best deal elswhere.

ok, there is alot of misconception going on.

red top is for starting as people said, that information is correct.

yellow top is for starting and power (get a yellow top if you are running alot of additional power such as a system, lights, etc.)

blue tops are marine (as said in this post). you can also use them in your car. the thing with a blue top is it has a very good deep cycle (very good for high powered sudio systems).

overall, it doesnt matter what battery you put in your car, just choose one that fits your needs

red top - performance, speed
yellow top - performance, audio
blue top - performance, audio

Batteries do not die when sitting on concrete. If you battery dies sitting on concrete, is was probably near dead already, or had something internally wrong where it discharged over time.

Yes that is an old wives tale from back before battery cases were made from plastic. It's funny seeing people still trying to store their batteries off the concrete floor.

I work at an autoparts store and we sell optimas. The difference between optimas and other batteries is that instead of the liquid acid that conventional batteries have, optimas have a gel. Therefore you will never have a problem with them leaking and you usually will have less corosion.

The red top 75/37 is the best for tcs. Yellow tops will work but they have different parameters. Red's have the most cranking amps which is why they are better (more power to start your car). You shouldn't use a blue top because those are made for marine use. You probably could if you really wanted to but I don't know if they will fit, usuallly marine batteries are large.

As far as the price goes you can get them from autozones and checkers usually, if not they can order them. You can also get them from optima.com I believe, but you have to pay shipping so you may want to factor that in to the cost.

ok, the red top has a quicker start, but is it better for my audio system/neon nights than the yellow top will be?
