uhhmmm cold cathodes do not overheat and do not take up that much more electricty than a series of leds.

I know that the cold cathodes that you buy for computers are cheaply made and sometimes experience meltdowns, and these aren't much different. Anyway, if you want not super bright underdash lighting, this is the mod for you. If not, no need to read.
