Blew the stock stereo internal amp?
So I was coming home last night and had it bumped up to around 50 on the volume with a wicked live DJ set on.. All of a sudden.. Silence.
It happened once before and just stopped the front speakers.. after letting the car sit for a while, it came back on. Thermal amp protection I'm thinking.
I was praying for the same thing this time, but after letting her sit all night, there still is ZERO sound coming out of the stock deck. It powers up, plays the CD, but no sound whatsoever.
Is there a seperate fuse for it? You think that I blew the deck amp up??
Help!

With the volume off, fade/balance to one corner of the car at a time. Once faded to one speaker, turn up the volume a bit. If that speaker comes on and can play relatively loud, that speaker is good.
If you find one speaker cuts out or sounds funny that speaker is probably blown and is the reason your whole deck cuts sound.
If it doesnt seem tied to one speaker, then yeah the deck is probably toast.

UPDATE:
Didn't hit a bump.. smooth road.
Yes, it was all speakers. No sound from any of them after fading and balancing to each one.
BUT.. when I went out again to play with the car around 5pm the next day.. she works again!
Must have tripped some kind of overload in it.. It's wierd how it took a whole day though to switch itself back. When it did it before, it only took like an hour. Also, I had the car type set to the xA, as it was giving better sound. I think though that you may be actually changing amp impedance somehow inside the deck when you change car types, as I put it back to the tC car type and it's muuuuch quieter at equivalent volumes. 50 is not that loud..
In any case, I've got a HiFonics Zeus zxi8600 5ch amp on order, and will just hold the volume to a decent level until then..
Infinity seperates in the doors with buttloads of B-Quiet on the door panels both on the car and on the panel.. (Don't forget to deaden the actual inside of the plastic panel!), Pioneer 6.5 4ways in the rear spots, ED stealth sub in back. Woot!
