Default Blue Led Converision Success!!

I am writing up this post to hopefully help all the people that are on the fence in doing the LED conversion on their own. Before this mod I had no soldering experience other then knowing what an Iron was. Through all the posts in this forum I was able to gather the "material" and "how to guide." It came out great!

Site that I bought the Leds!
http://www.lc-led.com/View/itemNumber/98 (for the blue) they also have other colors
shipping came in two days

Walkthroughs

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=91321 (steering wheel 06' only)
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=77876 (hvac mod for blue and white and props to engifineer! )

Door

Sorry about the pics camera phone and the steering wheels is also done but not shown.

Closing
I know that alot of things have been written about this mod but I wanted to get the point across that it is not that difficult. I can be done with some time and patients. I had no soldering experience and I love how it came out. The doors, steering wheel and gauges are all very simple to remove and change. The HVAC is a bit more difficult espceially if you are going blue. But engifineer's mod works great. By applying this the car has a much better overall look.
SO for all you unsure about attempting this or who are neverious about completing this mod I say go for it. Just watch out for the HVAC LCD!!

Looks like you did pretty good. Blue is definitely a nice color in there. It's something I have on my "list" as well.

When I put a few of those walkthroughs in the tech section, I tried to make sure they were labelled similar in there so someone could find all of them. It's good to see someone getting some use out of all of them!

^-- ack thanks for the comments. I love the look the blue gives. The tech articles are what allowed me to complete this. Thanks to all who contribute to this site and I hope that this post will help others.

It really was not that difficult. I got the 15 watt Iron and 60/40 .082 solder from radio shack. And if you are going blue I also got the hook up wire and resistors from radio shack as well. All in all it cost me around 60 w/ shipping for 40 leds, and 19 for all the parts from Radio Shack. To pay only 80 buck to get rid of that annoying amber and have a project that you completed yourself is well worth it. I started small and did the steering wheel controls first. I want to get some confidence in doing this and figured that this is the smallest (and cheapest piece) if I was to screw up. From there it was all down hill. I
moved on to the doors and then to the gauges and finally ended on the hvac.

Best of luck to all that go for it....its worth it, given the new look

If anyone in the B-town, MA area is looking to have this done or needs help hit me up (pm).

Looks good, man! I think I might try (or have it done) this summer. I like how you included the other people's threads in your's. Its nice to have EVERYTHING in one thread! On a scale of 1 to 10, how hard is this? I want to try, but I'm afraid I'll screw it up! Thanks again for the very informative thread!

your right start w/ the steering wheel, it only take two bolts removed with a T30 torque bit, and 1 screw w/ a philips. The board has only 3 leds to replace.

On a scale of 1 to 10 the doors gauge and steerwheel are a 4, as for the HVAC if you go blue is around a 7, but it is nothing that you cant complete w/ out a bit of paticents. just don't rush it. Follow the walkthroughs. The previous people of this forum did a great job in making sure to include all steps and possible mishaps.
Good Luck

actually... anything but red is harder to do.

with blue, white, and green, you will need to do engifineer's fix on the center console, which takes a bit of time.

red doesn't need all that extra work.

squall is right. Any color other than red requires a higher voltage to look as bright as the oem does. The blue, white, green, etc all work fine in the doors, gauges, and steering wheel controls. As for the HVAC you have to up the voltage on the board to make them as bright as the rest of the car. Eng has come up w/ a mod for doing this and it works perfectly. This will allow the HVAC to be as bright as the rest of the led's. Eng's mod is linked above to the orginal post, click on it to see how it is done.
although red is easier to complete, IMOP the blue looks better and is worth the addition work.
