blue neons
i recently bought some blue neons and im starting to think it was a waste of money..... the front 36'' cracked when i was racing a lancer evo and broke in half... luckily, i saved the electrical components inside to light because a few days ago, my right 40'' tube flickered and died.... i took it apart to find that the electrical component that sparkes the neon had somehow gotten wet and MELTED the whole chip.... im glad my car didnt catch on fire. it took about 20 mins of soldering and 5 minute epoxy and i fixed the light with the chip from the front tube...... it all works now but im not sure how long it will be befor the others do the same thing..... and i dont have anymore replacement parts.......
A couple of years ago we wired my friends car, and the rule was every time it rained and you drive on the highway for 2 hour or you just drive upstate to skiing one will stop working for some reason, maybe it was out work or maybe it was the fact that a couple of years ago I didnt know much and it was 100 DIY except for the lights, lol.
I think its the car gods saying underbody neons are not cool.
That sucks that that is happening...one of my friends used to have some really nice streetglow neons under his car, had them for about a year and nothing ever happened. Ive never bought them because I think that money can go towards better parts for the car.

I've had my underbody LEDs on for about a year, not one of them has broken or cracked. Everything is working perfectly. This is after a year of NYC weather and potholes. LEDs are pretty much maintenance free. They also use less power, and last longer.
My LED system was a DIY and i think i did a good job. None of the neons have ever given me a problem, and i've had no electrical problems to date.
