broken passenger seat
mmk, so i searched a little bit and couldn't find any info on this subject. I have a 05 tC and recently one of my friends broke the little bar on the side thats used to **** the seat forward (don't know the technical term for it) oh and i have side airbags, so WHAT can i do? any ideas? i tried taking my seat apart a little bit earlier, but i figured that should be one of my last moves simply because i don't want to be responsible for accidentally deploying the airbag and simultaneously breaking my face. Anyways, has anyone had this problem? i'd like to fix it myself since i really don't like dealer ships. Oh, symptoms, i almost forgot. I lift the bar and absolutely nothing happens it has resistance because it returns to its original position, but it has no effect on the seat whatsoever. Thanks
I broke mine a month ago and the dealer fixed it. I was still within the 36 month/36k mile bumper to bumper though. They had to take the seat down and send it to the upholstery shop. They did leave a 14mm socket for me too for good measure :D
if you disconnect the battery, please wait few minutes before fiddle-farking the airbag systm.... the airbad system is designed with a capacitor i believe, that will allow the airbag to deploy if the electrical system fails (shortly/immediately after a primary collision). The engineers are gettin pretty smart nowadays and know that secondary and even tertiary collisions can be as or more harmful than the primary (which might conk out the electrical/battery)..... Good Luck!
i mean more-so i was getting at the fact that i just don't wanna mess up my airbag system period, but thanks for the feedback, i think my warranty is up, so i guess i'll just take it apart one of these days and see how it goes
