Can I change this led (added pictures)
I want to change the color of an illuminated switch to match the rest of the interior. Has anybody done this or know if it is possible.
I recently got the VRD fog lights and am very satisfied except for one thing. The switch is illuminated a kind of green color which is an eye sore in the interior and doesn't match. I would guess that others with these fogs also agree and maybe some of you have changed the color. I would not even dare to tackle that without detailed instructions.
Even if I could take the led out or burn it out so that the switch is not illuminated that would be better than the color it is.
I noticed that the connector on the back of the switch has 4 pins. I would guess that one or more of these pins is what causes the switch to light up. If I could maybe not connect that pin then the switch would not light up. Any input?

I have swapped every led in the tC interior various different ways, including scan gauges. I have also done the same for various types of illuminated switches. If it can be taken apart, and their is an led, you can swap it

actually... if they use the same simliar swith as the factory.. (to which they aim to do)
the green comes from actually paint stuff... part of the switch itself... can't... ewww.. PITA to change...
along with it not being LED as well.
i'm not saying it's not possible... just takes ALOT more time..

Could you direct me towards a blue replacement for that annoying white light in the compartment below the heater controls? My dealer couldn't even identify the stock one. Thanks.

That's a #74 led bulb. superbrightleds.com has it.
OK I got pictures.
Here is the green color at night

Daytime

This is the back of the switch. I circled the 4 pins

This is the connector that plugs into the switch. I circled the 4 pins

So if I get a new switch I don't know if I will be able to connect it. I would like to know wich of the 4 pins makes it light up.

Last switch like that I took apart had a green "condom" on a light bulb inside, and the actual graphic was just white. If you're thinking about changing the switch anyway, you should be able to "peel" that foglight graphic out of the switch (exacto / small screwdriver under a corner?) and see the light bulb or LED inside. It should be sticky enough to stick back down afterwards. As for the pinout, that would be tricky without a circuit diagram or disassembling the switch... (should be able to be done by pushing in on that tab you see in the last picture / prying the sides apart, then the one on the opposite side. The whole back part of the switch should slide out. Just watch out for small parts.
