try hooking up something to the cable (3.5mm stereo male to male), inserting it into the aux in (in the armrest) and then turning ON the mp3 player, ipod, etc you're trying to input into the aux in.

the headunit will not work for AUX unless it sees voltage/signal in the aux in port, this is only accomplished by turning the portable (mp3, ipod, etc) on.

that's how it will finally work..

JNCS- welcome to the forum. yes, you need to have something plugged in - such as an MP3 source in order for the Auxilary to work.

i was having the same issue with mine using the AUX to plug in my phone. The only way it would read it is if i plugged in my car charger while the AUX was hooked up.

Assuming you have it plugged in at both ends and said device is powered on and playing music, you should hear something out of your speakers when AUX is selected on the hu.

Yea or it might be a short inside the actual port that it hooks up to

is there a way around this? I also can't go into aux mode unless my ipod is charging via the cigarette lighter. would grounding the aux input fix this?

yes it's very simple. Get yourself a ground loop isolator, 3.5 mm input/outputs. About $10-15. That will stop the problem. It's easier than trying to re-engineer the electrical grounding of the tC.

PAC SNI-1/3.5 (sni135) 3.5mm Ground Loop Noise Isolator Works W/

they're available all over, I just like the PAC model.
