Default Capacitor=Alt. Whine?

Hey guys I have had my system for a little while, I have a Pioneer AVIC-Z2 headunit, Infinity Kappa perfects in front, Infinity 63.7's rear, a 4 channel alpine amp, a mono alpine amp, and a 10' alpine type-r. There is no alternator whine at all so I plan to keep it that way. But my question is, if I add a cap to my system is there anyway It can develop alternator whine? Reason why is because in my Mustang, the alternator whine is REALLY BAD! I have bigger amps in it tho. but Im just sick of it and I dont want to have any whine in my tc, so what do you guys think? I know Im probably being paranoid, But i just wanted some other insight. Thanks I appreciate any feedback or knowledge!

you really shouldn't be having the whine noise by adding a CAP. the whine usually occurs when you install an amp that is taking up alot of power from the alternator and battery. by adding a CAP. it will put less work on the alternator and battery since you will be taking power from the CAP. i had that whine noise in my 93 honda accord and i understand by what you mean that it's annoying but then i changed my alternator and then had less whine noise, also get a noise filter which helps out abit but not alot to say as it saids.

I have a custom 170 amp alternator for my system and it whines... Of course, I am pushing 2 JL 500/1 and one 300/4 amp, 2 JL W710's, TV's, lighting... Everything, and it's charging 2 batteries. a Cap shouldn't make it whine and I kinda agree with the above statement as well. Go buy you a Kinetics HC600 powercell. Will run you better in the long run! (but again, with the actual 2nd battery, cannot gaurantee it won't whine if that battery gets low...

A power supply stiffening capacitor is NOT a "waste of money", although you may not need one.

On topic, NO, it won't introduce alternator whine, in fact quite the contrary. There are situations where adding a cap will actually REDUCE existing alternator whine.

The best thing you can spend your money on would be an upgraded alternator. However with the equipment that you are running you don't need to do anything.

Its the cap that whines if its not completely charged. And they are not a waste of money.

For the most part a cap is useless.

Dude, did you actually read that? If so, I don't understand how you could make such a statement, since they clearly state the positive things one WILL do for a system. Useless? Not at all! Maybe you should read it again, and then spend the time required to actually comprehend it, at least so you won't contradict your own source.
