Try www.directed.com DEI makes Viper, Clifford, Python, and about 5 other car alarm systems along with Precision Power and Orion car audio and a few other electronics items like some Sirius satellite radios. I'm not sure about other brands, but there are plenty of good choices, it all depends on what features you want and how much you're willing to spend. I wouldn't mind one of the GPS alarm systems that DEI offers, but they're a little pricey.

Im mainly looking for paging system, adjustable sensitivity, a decent reaching distance remote. Remote start is nice but not absoultly needed and willing to spend 200 at most not including shipping

CompuStar alarms seem to be another popular option. There should be a few posts about them somewhere around scionlife.

$200. I think you should save some more money and invest on a very good alarm. Like you I was confused and noob'd about alarms before, all the while my baby was parked outside vulnerable. Believe me, I was really worried to death coz I sometimes couldn't sleep knowing my Tc's outside without any protection (other than the streering wheel lock).

Anyways, I finally ended up buying the Viper 791XV. TOTALLY WORTH IT DUDE! Well, it has the remote start, the extemely cool pager/remote, and some other cool modules. Sometime people ask me what my cool looking phone was---then I'd spend about 10 mins explaining and demonstrating the whole jig.

Oh, they say the pager can receive my car's signal up to 1/2 mile away. But I haven't proven it to be true.

So, look through Ebay, my friend. That's where I got mine. I think abt 250 (retail's about $600) plus I spent 130 for installation (make sure the installer's authorized/certified by the manufacturer--Directed)...very imptante on the installer---has to know what he's doing... plus you need to provide him your valet key for the Antitheft Bypass module.

So good luck I hope I was a little help to you...

Jurassic is your car a auto or MT? You said you had remote start so I was just wondering. I haven't read about alarms in a long while but I remember those who did have Remote start on MT in the past needed a clutch bypass and the alarm had some special sequence to be followed when exiting the car (put in neutral, etc) to allow the remote start to be used later.

Just wondering if things have changed.
