Changing or coloring of sunroof cover?
Has anyone had any experience dyeing or even replacing/changing the sunroof [and moonroof] slider covers?
They seem to be a type of thin plastic.
I am changing my headliner color and would like to do something to have these 2 pieces match. Any suggestions?

Well the entire service manual for replacing the sunroof is here

I'm going to see if I can make sense of this and keep it from breaking. Thanks man.
Oh and, you think dyeing it would be a good/workable solution?

lol i actually didnt do it, i bought it from someone on here. And to be honest, I cant tell how they did it by looking at it. lol I dunno, but it came out great.
It looks like it was maybe painted cuz it has a slight gloss to it, i dunno.

Thats what I did to my cover as well. I painted it black with spray paint meant for vinyl and fabric that i found at autozone (flat black trim paint works as well). It surprisingly stuck well on the surface. This was over a year ago so I might not remember all the details(picture memory) exactly. Yes, there is a spring mechanism and it scared the shiznits outta me when i was taking it out. Fortunately i didn't lose the tiny little screws. It took me hours to put the cover back in because I was doing it wrong the whole time. If you do attempt it, just reply to this thread and I will see how i can help you. Thinking back, the hardest part was removing the headliner as in time being spent.
If you really want to save time , lots and lots of time you may want to RISK this at your own risk http://www.fabricspraypaint.com/ by painting it while its still attached. I was tempted to try this method but instead i took all the trim pieces out that i wanted to paint and painted them. I do not recommend this because the paint can get really messy if you dont cover your interior correctly when painting. Also you might miss spots and cause them to be uneven.
EDIT:I just noticed the post with the manual. Just follow that.
