Default Chrome Spray Paint Problems

Has anybody tried using the Dupicolor Instant Chrome Spray?? However when i think i am done, i handle the painted pieces and an imprint of my fingerprint is created. Its as if the paint is still soft for some reason. Here are the steps i used to paint:

1) Sanded down piece
2) Lay down the primer
3) Spray chrome paint, 10 min between coats
4) Let dry anywhere between 2 hrs to 24 hrs

I've painted trimpieces before but never used the chrome paint till now. I didn't use clearcoat in the end with the chrome paint becuase the top clear coat will turn the chrome dull and gray. Could that be the problem or should i try waiting longer, like a week?

Any input? Thanks in advance.

btw: the chrome paint before i handle it looks amazing.

I've not used the duplicolor chrome, but other times it has taken around 5-7 days for the paint to fully cure. For most paints, you can do 2 light coats and 1 medium coat to get a nice wet coverage without running. You probably just have to wait longer, and maybe get the paint to a higher temperature/lower humidity. Paint will set VERY fast in 85 degree heat with 30% or lower humidity.

Am i able to just let the piece sit in a warm area now? Or does it have to be during the time being sprayed?

The environment that you actually apply the paint isn't vital as long as it's in the range the manufacturer recommends. But after you paint, let it sit in a warm, dry area after the final coat for 48 hours or more. You want the paint to be hard, so that a fingernail won't dent it, before you put it in the car.
