Default Cig Lighter Outlet Problems

Ok, So I have a 400 watt power inverter in my hatch, its connected to a Wii, 20" lcd monitor, and a tiny little vga to a/v converter.

The problem: I had a setup of 2 radio shack 12v cig cables that ran around the car to the hatch, but whenever i would turn on the inverter, it would flip out. However! When I plug the inverter an the setup into the front cig lighter outlet, it works fine.

I noticed that the extender cable thickness is thinner than the one for the power outlet, and I think this is the cause.

Sooooo...
Does anyone know of any THICK cig outlet extender cords?

Whoa!! I just had a scary thought of you doing Wii Fit with your hatch open looking like a crazy person.

Well, I actually do have WiiFit in there, and yeah, so WiiFit mobile would happen!

Anyway!

I went to Lowes and Got 10 Gauge wire, because it looked like the same size when i held it next to the wire. It all works now. Except it just emits a constant high pitch tone. I'm gonna go look up what it is, but I'm gonna try attaching a few 14 gauges to each line and beef up the wire and see how that works. Otherwise all is proceeding well!

Any other suggestions

You have ground feed back (as to hi pitch noise). If you have a stereo be sure to ground everything at one spot, and be sure you have a good ground by scratching the painted area around the bolt, screw tap, etc even if its just a primered area.
