Have not found a definitive answer on this

What other years climate control/HVAC unit below the radio work with the 07? I need to replace mine due to the common lighting problem (the soldering trick did not work) and I plan on buying used

I see them on eBay advertised for 05-07, however today at work I was able to swap a unit from a 06 into my 07. The physical connection on the back was the same, but the lighting and button commands did not work. Not even the clock lit up. The 07 unit in the 06 vehicle did not light up either, although I think the clock did. When I went to swap again after I was done, everything worked as expected in the 06 vehicle, since the unit wasnt defective to begin with

 

So 08 will work with 07 but 05-06 will not. Found a used unit from a 08, without being sure if it was compatible. Turns out it is. Only thing is the colors at night are slightly different compared to the gauges and radio, but thats just minor. So glad to have this fixed finally

 

the "newer" design for the hvac controls were re-designed in 07+ as you found out. They also had a lot of problems with one resistor that would cause the lighting to go out. engifineer had a post up about this either here or clubsciontc.com and yeah I'm glad you were able to fix it up!!
