I've never heard of Compustar. So I'd go with Viper.

How much was that one that you posted about? Any problems at all with it? I want something that has over 1 mile range. Thanks for the help.

Well with this first one is nice because you could leave your windows/sunroof open. I just don't know of the brand.

Compustar alarms are #1 among those in the industry.

An alarm is only as good as the install in which it's used...

So go with compustar? I see votes for the viper but someone says compustar is the best, this is confusing as hell lol.

I have the Viper 791XV two way pager alarm. It kicks @ss and I love it. They have come out with a new version that has a one mile range. I highly recommend viper. Viper, Python, auto page, all of those are the same anyways. They are all made by Directed electronics.

DEI is a mobile electronics power house. They produce a good product, and the Viper791xV will work just fine.

If you're able to have the Computstar installed by an authorized Compustar dealer, it will prove to be a more reliable, superior security system.

Again, all features being equal, the alarm system will only be as effective as the install.

I had a Computstar and I liked it! Had a lot of options. But the Viper has been a favorite to a lot of people and it works very well. I dont think you will get a mile radius with any alarm, the most I have seen was 400 Feet and I believe that was for the top grade Viper. I like them both, so to answer your question, to each their own and you think what one fits what you are going to use, dont spend so much $$ on something you will never use!

When they say 1 mile range...they pretty much means...AT MOST a 1 mile range...on a clear day...in plain sight..on a flat surface..with nothing in the way of the signal or anything to distort the signal.

Both are equally as good companies..like the previous poster said..it is only as good as the install.

I would recommend mine its the symtec visionguard 8000. It has motion sensors and a camera, remote start and a bunch of other goodies. I bought it from ecarsecurities.com i think, its pretty sweet though

I recently call a shop in Brooklyn, and asked about install prices for Cliffor Matrix 70.5X which is the same as Viper 7900. Shop quoted me 650 installed, and i also asked them about autostart for manual , she quoted me additional 150 for bypass..
So all in all its $800 !!! I think its rediculously expensive !

Yeah...that sounds awfully high. I was quoted $500 for the top of the line Compustar that was just release. That included bypass and install.

You should look at ALL aspects of the alarm system thats going to protect your ride - or your sleeping under false assumptions!

How well is it made (reliable)? By whom? How long have they been in the security industry? Are they backed? Who do they authorize to install their security systems? Is this company recognized by your insurance company, and will you become eligible for a deductible? Should something go wrong, how do they handle warranty issues? What about security breaches due to their product failing?

There's more to it than: "Yep, I've got an alarm."

Scytek VisionGuard 8000 is a nice alarm/remote start. I prefer and use a Viper 791XV.
